You guys did a phenomenal job on this level. The pacing was near perfect, and for me, the detail work was the best I've seen from the Source engine in a long time. I literally spent hours tracing the pipework up to each section, and your mappers even put small electrical conduits into every wall console or outlet. Heck, someone actually saw fit to add a tiny bowl of quick dry cement with masonry tools in one of the corners of the sewer section as if one of the workers was tired of everything falling apart and had started taking matters into their own hands.

Each of these details made just wandering around taking in the sights part of the game experience and really sets this mod apart from so many others. I would even be so bold as to say that this worldspace looks like it belongs right alongside Black Mesa proper which is a testament to its quality. I really enjoyed the rest of the mod, but this level is so far my favorite.

Alright, I have actionable results. My problem is caused by ticking "Copy Depth Buffer Before Clear Operations" which Reshade needs in order to use any of the depth data.

So, in the scheme of things, it's a very limited use case, and frankly isn't even part of the mod. I'm glad to have found out what caused it, though.

By the way, I just want to say while testing, I noticed these nebulae which while on top of adding a lot of visual flair, I believe actually match the ones on the Galactic Map which is nothing short of impressive.

1080p resolution for the screen and intro, no small text fix, Advanced Wirescreen HUD enabled, Weapon Group Buttons Enabled, Dark HUD and Custom Flat Icons Disabled, Clipping fix for 16x9 resolutions Enabled, DgVoodoo Option (As far as I can tell anyway. I have the DGvoodoo executable so I assume that's what I chose), AntiAliasing and Anisotrophic Filtering Enabled, Reshade Enabled with none of its effects selected, Shiny Reflections Enabled, Maximized Draw Distance, 10 second Time Tunnels, Command Console Enabled,

I also chose Story Mode, "Freelancer Alpha 1", the English Subtitles, and HD intro if that's somehow also relevant. (But listing it just in case)

I apologize for the wall of text, if there's a LOG file, what's it called so I can send that as well?

I've noticed a minor cosmetic issue where the ship preview models (The tiny rotating 3d model you see while buying ships at a station) seem to be losing visible geometry when you rotate them until eventually the entire model disappears.

I installed both the 0.4 and 0.5 in completely separate locations and they each have this problem.

I love the combat chatter in the video. Will that be the standard for all upcoming versions? It adds a lot to making ground combat stand out and makes sense in context that calling out targets and positions is more important when visibility and cover actually matters.

This is a big ask, but I was wondering if someone fluent in Cantonese could record the lines in Hong Kong (Or someone good with Google Translate, I guess)

This is because it is frankly jarring how bad the voice actors are at pretending to have such an accent bordering on mockery at times.

I'm not usually one to say something is "offensive" to the people it portrays, but this is the one thing I say applies.

I have no idea myself how to exactly "inject" the sound files into the game or even if I extracted them properly, so my attempts were fruitless.

Just FYI, Reshade just got a massive update to 4.0

They haven't optimized for OpenGL just yet, but it won't be long until you have a multitude of more graphical options should you so choose to use them. (Plus they say the shaders work much faster, so Reshade lag could be a thing of the past. :) )

I've known a few people who have actually fought me on it, so it's relieving to hear that you know what you're doing.

Good to hear about the progress.

Regarding using files from TK-231's mod without their permission (If in fact you plan on doing so), please don't take this the wrong way, but it could backfire spectacularly, since ModDB is (As far as I know) quite protective of modder rights as well as most modding sites.

You could suggest users to download their mod alongside yours (As you originally planned), or you could simply rewrite your own shader files "Inspired" by TK-231's script. However, to use the raw files no matter how edited isn't just "Community unsupportive", it's frankly considered theft.

Again, I mean no offense, I have the utmost respect for your work and I only seek to keep everything above-board, as this kind of controversy can become a huge deal.

Always a pleasure to hear how progress is going.

I understand people have busy lives, so I try to avoid asking for an update every few days, but it had been more than a month and I was honestly starting to get a bit worried.
( I have no place to talk, obviously as I have some things I promised people that I had to put off for several months because of my job taking priority, unfortunately...)

Regarding the electrobinoculars, it always seemed a bit odd that you could hold one of the most dangerous weapons ever in your one hand while also keeping the binoculars focused in your other hand. There had to be at least a few times you'd accidentally cut off your own arm or just drop the binoculars and become an easy target due to the noise of it hitting the ground. Plus, the lightsaber has its own source of light, so electrobinoculars would be somewhat redundant.

I imagine for a solution you'll just swap out the binos whenever the lightsaber is equipped, as the game already does with the other weapons?

For the outfits, the one thing I noticed is that Kyle wears something completely different in Dark Forces 2 that looks more like an actual loose-fitting Jedi robe. Perhaps you can use something like that for reference?

Also, in Dark Forces Kyle wears a jumpsuit with giant brown duster jacket. So both of these could possibly even serve as "easter eggs" if done right..

For updates, have you considered doing more video previews, or is it your intention to keep most of this under wraps so as not to ruin the surprise once it's complete?

It's quite likely that the team had no idea how the movie actually looked, since Battlefront 2 was developed to be released in tandem with the DVD release. My guess is they used stills during development to get the right "look" and then based the textures off of that.

I'm at a loss. None of us on Moddb (that I know of) have been taking a crack at you, and have been nothing but supportive.

Second, why are you mentioning Movie Duels II? That mod is totally different and is even on a different game.

Third, why the vitriol? I can't even find the post you're referring to in your link that gives reason for your reaction..

For the record, this is one of the best maps I've seen. You got the gravel and dirt to a perfect level of grittiness, and the background mixed with the foliage creates such a good scene. The screenshots are good, but playing it really lets the details show.

The only criticism that I could come up with was that the background mountains are a bit pixelated, but it's to such a minor degree, one would have to be looking for it to notice.

Wow. Glad to hear that the savegame bug was fixable; I'm sure it was immensely frustrating.

I've been rewatching the videos, and I'm just excited to see the Trueview in action. It's amazing what an effect a simple weapon sway or 1st person lean can do for a game.

The other features like the added movement and time controls (Speed control and Bullettime, respectively) also look quite interesting.

Suffice it to say that I'm even more hyped for this than before.

Can't wait to see the file pop up, so I can download and test this out. :)

Personally, I understand that modding takes a lot of time and so frustration or annoyance was the last thing on my mind. I was more concerned that you'd gotten discouraged or felt that it would never be complete and so abandoned it.

I've seen plenty of great mods start up and then disappear into the ether, (Dark Forces Mod as the most painful example) and I feel your mod has so much thought and time put into it that it would be just as unfortunate if it was added to that list.

It'll be cool to see what you've come up with, plus you can use it as a sort of "Alpha Test" so more people can find any bugs that didn't show up in your own tests.

Plus, more visibility could mean that someone on here or other Star Wars game sites who knows how Jedi Outcast savefiles work, could hopefully figure how to fix the save game bug you've been dealing with.
