Post tutorial Report RSS How to get working STALKER SHoC SDK

Installing a STALKER SHoC SDK is a pretty complicated task - to get fully-working SDK set, suitable for SP-maps editing you have a lot things to do. This quick-start guide will lead you through complete installation process.

Posted by on - Advanced Other

1. Get the official SDK 0.4 here: Files.gsc-game.com - install ONLY to "Program Files" folder. If you are running Vista of Windows 7 x64, make sure you NOT install SDK in "Program Files (x86)".

2. Get the unofficial update here: Stalkerin.gameru.net - update your install

3. Get the vcredist from microsoft download center and install. Sadly there is a lots of versions of vcredist and I can't remember which are you need exactly. If my memory wasn't cheating on me, it's a vcredist 2005. Install.

4. Check if level_editor\bins\ folder inside SDK have this files:

bcbsmp60.bpl
elpackB6.BPL
rtl60.bpl
vcl60.bpl
vclx60.bpl
borlndmm.dll

If not - find them and put there. This is a Borland runtimes.

5. Get the advanced compliers set there: Stalkerin.gameru.net - unpack it's contents in "level_editor" folder inside SDK, overwriting files. It's readme in russian but can be pretty readable translated by Google Translate.

6. Get the aiwrapper package there: Stalkerin.gameru.net - unpack it's contents in "aiwrapper" folder inside SDK (there is no such folder, you need to create it by yourself) It has english readme files.

7. Unpack all original game archives contents to level_editor\gamedata folder inside SDK, overwriting files.

Now you can try to start SDK and check if it working. If SDK crashing with "dll bla-bla not found"-like error - find needed dll and put in the level_editor\bins folder inside SDK.

And be prepared - if you are running Vista of Windows 7 - then file open and save dialogs in SDK wouldn't work. To fix this follow this guide: Sdk.stalker-game.com

WARNING! Even after what not all SDK dialogs are working in Vista of Windows 7, so I suggest you to make a VM (Virtual Machine) with Windows XP or Windows 2000 and run SDK from there. You'll need a VM with 3D support - such as latest VMWare Player - it's free for personal use.

This is a great thing to put up but it's to short and confusing, ie Saying this is a Borland runtime ??? What is. If you could do a more comprehensive guide that will get it running for people that would be a great tutorial to use, Well here's hoping, All the best for the new year. AHH You link to another guide too, that's good, Thanks.

Don't worry about Borland runtime - it's included in unofficial update, so in most cases you don't need to install it manually. As for more comprehensive guide - try to install by this guide first, and if you have any problems - ask there. Then I update this guide with solutions and it will became much more user-friendly.

In fact, long ago it would be worth to create a full STALKER SDK install with everything needed, and only thing what stops me from doing this - a resulting install will be HUGE, aroung 4 Gygabytes.

Thank you so much for tutorial. Editing and creating maps is one of my biggest dreams in stalker modding. Hopefully now i will be able to do something. :D Thanks again and also, nice to see that brothers from east finally helping western fans to create something much bigger than another graphical mod or stupid overused mods compilation like lots of the nowdays mods do... ;)

WARNING, Unofficial patch blocked, security risk = Trojan horse (NORTON)
I presume Trojan horse means something was trying to piggy back it's way on to my system.
Thanks for that one fella, Merry xmas to you too.

Rechecked with DrWeb and Kaspersky Antivirus - nothing found. Looks like false detection. Norton says what kind of trojan he have found exactly or his heuristic analyzer is just suspecting file are infected?

Windows XP is a far obsolete OS, but you will need to run the SDK in a virtual machine. The SDK simply was never designed for windows 10. The amount of changes between the operating systems, xp, vista, 7, 8, and 10 are far to

funny coincidence you answered this just 10 hours ago, but I have installed a VM with Windows XP and am able to run the level editor now, but the problem I have now is it doesn't allow me to write any folders in the VM, everything just tells me "Access Denied", I've tried setting everything I could to be able to alter folders and files but nothing worked, did you or anyone ever have a similar problem? It's driving me nuts
