Rundown
First we create an image and save it as a TGA file in the materialsrc folder for our game of choice. Then we run the TGA file through the program VTEX, this will create a VTF file in the materials folder of the active game in the Source SDK program.
Then we create a VMT file where we specify that we want it to use our newly created VTF file as a texture. Then we start Hammer, find the texture and apply it to a brush!

vtfedit anyone? :P
Do I sense a Craig Ferguson in this video?
Great tutorial :) Maybe you should mention VTF plugins for GIMP, Photoshop, Paintshop Pro, and Paint.NET, also VTFedit in another video. They make this process much easier if you know what you are doing. I just create the texture and save as VTF in Paint.net and it comes with its own VMT file.
I just save to VTF from photoshop... what a slow workflow is that? :P
Good tutorial, always is good to know the basic method
thx for vid
GIMP VTF plugin: Moddb.com
I know there are a bunch of tools out there, but I wanted to show the very basic way of doing it. I should have mentioned in the tutorial that there are these tools though.

Yes it is, I might make a tut on that at some point.
