ORION - FILEPLANET CLOSED BETA BEGINS TODAY!

Hello everyone!
So the Closed Beta is due to begin today. Not quite sure as to what time yet, it's up to them. However, it's currently looking like the afternoon. The servers are all up and we're just waiting for the Download to go live!
PROBLEM #1:
We want to make everyone aware that the VGUI Objectives are not appearing in the FilePlanet beta. These WILL be addressed by this Friday (the Public Beta). However, the maps are very symmetrical and it should be relatively easy to figure out where the enemy flag is (if you can find your flag you'll know where there flag is).
However, Quagmire has somewhat of a different set up that is still undergoing some development. But you'll notice force fields around your flag and the enemies flag:
In order to disable the enemy force field, all you need to do is get to this area on the map and "Hack" the keypad using the O.S.O.R Kit (slot 4).
PROBLEM #2:
Also there are some important issues we must discuss. We've noticed that the Options / Keyboard menu is missing a few binds. So please use these to enable them manually via the Developer Console:
Step 1: Go to Options -> Keyboard.
Step 2: Clicked 'Advanced'.
Step 3: Go back to the game. Hit the ( ~ ) key (next to the "1" key).
Step 4: Type the following commands to obtain the desired effects:
bind g +grenade1 / Throw Grenade.
bind t +hudoverlay / View Objectives (temporarily broken).
bind 6 +cloak / Enable Cloak (Sniper Class only).
bind b +dropflag / Drop the flag as the Flag Carrier.
PROBLEM #3:
If you are going to host a server for Orion, please edit your server.cfg file located in Orion/cfg/server.cfg to say sv_gravity "600" (instead of "300") for the Jetpacks to act properly.
Also, if you would like to play with the developers, we have a server for you. We'll be making our private test server a public beta test server for this week and possibly next week. Most of the devs and official testers will probably be in here. The server information is below:

I think it was mainly for publicity.
FP would have to have forked out some cash to secure this, ah well good on them, lets hope beta 2 gets some moddb coverage.

Bad publicity at that. Nothing good can come of limiting who can play it or not, not alot of people want to sign up at a site just to download one file.
It's been out for like 9 hours now...roughly 30 people playing...not a good turn out at all.
fileplanet is not the perfect solution, but the developers had probably got some money for the exclusive content. but probably u will be able to find some good mirrors after 1-2 days.
Nope, no money, just getting to be on FP front page for a while AFAIK.
Lower end rigs won't be able to play until the maps get optimized. Trying to hit something at 10 fps is nigh impossible.
optimization is a major problem here guys.

you obviously are doing something wrong or my AMD Phenom quad 2.6Ghz Geforce 9800GTX+ w/6Gb ram seriously pwns your system.. i get about 100fps AT LEAST on all maps in all the open areas.
I have a Intel Core 2 Duo and GeForce 9500 GT, 2 GB of Ram, runs at about 60 FPS on Max settings just fine. Perhaps you should take better care of you system?
Reinstall your directX9. Those DX11 upgrades seem to bugger up a lot of those older version using games.
For instance. I suddenly got a drop to about 20 frames on CSS, but as soon as I updated it all again, is skyrocketed well over 200.
Damn, I was too busy to catch it today but I'll be sure to download tommorow!
its real fun but yah my laptop struggles after a registry scan and running game booster its playable but its gonna be insane once its get nice and smoothed out
things like gamebooster don't work
you must keep your laptop in a good condition yourself,
not screw it up and then let a program try to make a few adjustments so that you can play at a speed wich should be possible without those programs
When I'm joining a server and are just about to enter the game, it crashes and I get something like "The memory could not be read" in an error message.
And to think I spent three times longer downloading it than I would if I had downloaded it from ModDB because FP's servers suck in comparison.
(hint: Don't do FP exclusives, please!)

It was exclusive to FP first so that only people dedicated to the Mod would join, so that less random Kids join, and also for the publicity. The purpose of this week of closed beta is so that the Dev team can work out fully any kinks or bugs they find in bigger onine gameplay; the public are all critics.
The idea, I think, is to release a more full version on the Public release.

Why don't you like it?
nothing wrong with closed betas. It ensures only dedicated people test the game. Also those are more inclined to report back to the developers what they found wrong with the game. Most others either just whine or don't care at all.
idk why people are having problems it was running fine yesterday on my laptop with an nvidia 7150m
i got HL2 so my questions is... since i have HL2 and some other source games will the mod still work? or do i have to buy the orange box? Fileplanet said that i can play this as long as i have ANY source game.
also i cannot make a account on your site the confirmation code does not appear i have try'd IE and FF browsers.
EDIT:fixed! it seems as if you do not need the code to make a account.
