Congratulations to all the 250 games, mods and apps that made the final count. Best of luck in Phase 2!
Once again my mod failed to make it.
It's no good having RTS mods go up against FPS mods total different scales of playership doesn't really make for a fair competition.
I think next year genres should be factored in.
They are already, if you do not get the votes required to be in the top 100 you can only really get more votes for your mod. Did you advertise anywhere else on the internet about the existence of your mod? The ones that do well foster communities outside of this site.
I advertised a good deal on my mod's facebook page, its forums and to anyone who would listen.
You have to admit the MOTY's do seem to have a weird thing for guns.
I've been running my mod for 6+ years now I doubt it's ever going to break the top 100 and I don't think I'll bother even trying next year.
All part of the game I decided to mod I think only 1 BFME mod has ever broken the top 100 and that was Elven Alliance about 5 years ago.
Promoting your mod on your own sites is nice but you must realize that the eyeballs of gamers are going to be in general gaming forums. If you're allowed, you should post to the BFME forums at EA. Post LOTR forums too, like theonering.net. Find other similar games, visit their forums and post to them. Finally, try Reddit or Digg which have huge audiences and aren't insular to your friends and family like facebook.
The BFME forums at EA are dead and have been for at least 5 years, same with the other related sites.
The other sites are a bit different and it depends on their rules.
"All part of the game I decided to mod I think only 1 BFME mod has ever broken the top 100 and that was Elven Alliance about 5 years ago."
The Edain Mod made it in the Top 100 the last 3 years in a row... So it is still possible for a BfmE Mod to reach the top 100. :)
Of course it's not a BfmE I Mod - but still one of the old BfmE series.
Not true. There are plenty of RTS mods in the top 100. CoH: Opposing Fronts has 4 mods. C&C3 with 3 mods. C&C Zero Hour with 3 mods. Even C&C Tiberian Sun and Yuri's Revenge has a mod apiece that's in the top 100 and look how old they are. The BFME1 just isn't one of the more popular games out there. It's overshadowed too much by BFME2/RotWK. (The Edain Mod made it in the top 100 again)
your mod failed cause its not a hl game remake
There are even RTS Mods that won the MotY so it's all up to the quality of your mod...
It has more to do with the game you choose.
I run an RTS mod, even before MOTY it was #1 for a solid week. Its all about development style and the demographic you pitch to. Older games have less of a demographic, its simply math. You have less fans, less votes. Update rarely fewer people visit your page, less votes.
There are plenty of decent mods out there, don't hate the game.
There is nothing else that is nice that I can say other than that for five years you must have gained a decent wealth of experience in modding so go and join another project or start a new project you can sink your teeth into and try something more ambitious than a LOTR expansion mod, or if you want to keep it LOTR then go help create the world or design the textures for the total-conversion LOTR Skyrim mod, which is more ambitious and LOTR.
A shared victory is greater than a lonely victory.
From the looks of things, you didn't really do ANYTHING to promote your mod on MODDB (You know, the site where people vote for MOTY) during the voting period.
That could have something to do with it.
I'm sorry but I've tinkered around with your mod since it's release and I PERSONALLY (chill people) don't think it's good enough to make it to the list. Mods like Middle Earth Total War have easily made the list before so don't say it's not fair, in fact I have to point out that PC gamers have roots in strategy games so it's not likely you're going to find a bias for FPS games.
Which mod was yours? I'm sorry I can't seem to find the name of your mod mentioned in this thread.
I'd like to see it.
dude, what are you talking about? there are lots of rts mods in the final 100. Yours did not make it because people preferred other stuff.
Some mods for RTS games have been extremely popular.. in fact the modding community for the RTS genre is one of the most active.
The particular game you mod just isn't that big- games like Empire at War, Sins of a Solar Empire, and C&C always score high.
I am totally agree with you... Brother I understand your frustration about it.
The first person games are better, enjoyable to play and they are more attractive to all games players than every strategic game between others.
You know both are totally differents types of games and you can not make a comparation between both type of game.
It is necessary open or create a games category.
You know.. vote for differents categorys and not in general because it is a big disadvantage for some games...
I give you my (+) karma..
I didn't make the grade :( but it would be nice to know how many nominations I got. Is there a complete listing of all mods that got nominated? I guess it would be thousands long, but I would like to know where I placed overall.
Congratulations to all the mods that made it into the top 100 list. I did not realize there was so many cool projects available on Moddb. There is also a lot of mods that did not have enough votes to qualify, when is MODdb going to produce the complete results list? So everyone can see how many votes they actually need to get into the top 100 for next year!
It would help to know where mods stand over all after the event.
Without having to go and compare stats via pages.
Thanks for voting, ladies and gentlemen.
I just hope guest votes dont really count a lot (i.e. 0.1x)
Anyways, congratz to all mods that made it!
That CNC Fallout failed to make this list absolutely blows my min.
There are LOTS of mods that deserve to be up there but sadly for one or another reason aren't
You crafted a brilliant mod, Henford.
Played it myself and absolutely loved it.
But you also did nothing what-so-ever to market it for the Top 100. If you're searching for someone to blame, you need only look into a mirror.
WooT, Star Wars Battlecry is in it! Our team is crossing fingers :).
SW: Battlecry has virtually no content.
WILSON CHRONICLES ! :D
ZPS didn't reach top 100 again? Kind of unsurprising, considering how little of development it's received lately. Contagion or not, this is getting a little ridiculous. Go for MOTY, NMRiH!
No MWLL this year? I voted, but... apparently a lot of other people didn't. No Firestorm over Kronus either? At least The Dark Mod is doing well, so that'll be the horse I'm backing, I guess. :(
You guys NEED to look at the MEN OF WAR mods in the non realesed section and please check out the Vietnam one and Total Krieg. These men have been working on these mods for over 8 years or so now and they are wonderful mods so please vote and take a look at them!
I think a promotion is in order brandflakes ;)
Sturm.
cry of fear !
Only just noticed when the countdown ends.
Mwuahahaha...
The countdown ended and nothing happened...
It has been 24 hours since the countdown ended. We demand our results! :P
RESULTS!! O:
I would like to know who won !
If not, when will the winner and runners up be announced ?
Thanks.
RESULTS! NAOW!
