ZombieMod takes a unique approach on the Zombie Apocalypse by putting it in the perspective of a military commander, not a survivor. Since it is 2 years after the first infections, resistance on the east coast is organized, resulting in battles rather than small groups fighting for survival.
The two most powerful support abilities for the survivors come in the foreign doctrine in the form of 2 air support abilities. One is an MI-24 Hind overwatch, where MI-24 Hinds will strafe the target area whenever enemy infantry enter. The second, and more powerful, is a SU-25 Frogfoot overwatch, which will attack buildings, infantry or vehicles. Both are very expensive abilities.

Funny how the zombie apocalypse does that. :P
I chose Russia for a few specific reasons. Firstly, I wanted to promote a spirit of international unity in the mod. Secondly, I'm tired of seeing Russia as always being the bad guy that the US has to fight. Lastly, they have some pretty sexy hardware to work with, especially the Hind.
And I have no complaints in the slightest.
+1 to world unity (Against zombies), +1 to seeing Russians break the stereotype and +1 to awesome Russian firepower.
The Russian stereotype is extremely annoying, I wish we could get the generic terrorist or Latin American dictator stereotype back
Unfortunately, because of the Cold War, I fear the mentality of the US vs Russia will remain for a while.
