ZC is a cooperative mod running the original source engine. It will use Half-Life 2: Deathmatch and HL2 content, and probably not have much more other than that. The real fun will come in the mainly the map design and basic gameplay. ZC will simply be fun, not groundbreaking or "Omg dis gaem is soo craetive an orignal!". And as a sidenote, no, this is not a mod trying to "cash in" so to speak, on the popularity of Left 4 Dead. The concept for this mod originated in my brain before I knew of Left 4 Dead.

Look! I get it!

News

There are. So why should we all support the development of another one? It's gonna be fun for a few days, weeks, maybe a month or two, but in the end it's going to be just another Zombie shooting game.

I guess creating another Zombie mod would brand me as a commoner. When I started work on this mod almost one year ago now I expected a challenge. It was my first mod ever. When it's one very first mod, the ideas are endless, but what you can actually do with those ideas is not endless. Creating a Co-Op Zombie game was a simple idea. Of course doing this immediatly means scrutiny from the public "LULZ DERE ARE LIKE ONE HUNDRED OTHER ZOMBIE GAMEZ!" and eventually e-murder. Probably the reason ZC died like, 3 times.

Now, what I have observed over time is that when you look at the big picture for mods, they all have a theme. There aren't many that really have a theme. The two I can name right now are JBMod and Gmod. Technically the same mod, if you know the whole historic shibang of how Gmod came to be. So that makes ONE mod with no theme. Well, for the source engine at least. Screw around and have fun. Build stuff, pose people, it's a sandbox. Well I guess, it does still have a genre. It's a Sandbox mod.

BUT.

Are there any mods that fit into the "General" genre? NO! That's why you're sitting there reading this and wondering what the hell a general mod is! The General genre is anything! Why not have a mod that not only let's you jump around on blocks like some kind of mad crazy man, but also lets you shoot crap? Is it singleplay or is it multiplayer? I dunno, it's general!

You see my friends, general can be anything. For a few months now I was thinking of starting a second mod that's designed for custom content. This kind of is that.

I think by now you've gotten the picture that Zombie Co-Op will no longer be Zombie Co-Op. I mean, hell there could still be zombies in it, but it does not focus on one particular thing. For example, one map could be "Infiltrate the Combine Base", or "Roll this barrel to the end", while another could be "Survive the zombie apocalypse". It's a load of fun, not pretty looking graphics and textures.

The name for the mod will be T.A.S., which stands for "This Abbreviates Something". There will not be a new page created for this mod, but rather the current page will be converted for the new mod.

We might switch the mod to become a server-side mod for HL2:DM, more possible stability.

dude, I hope your mod the best. but another zombie mod? there is like 10 already? some are already very good. I mean do what you want but if you got the skills to make mods maybe you can add some new features into this game and instead of a zombie mod, make it like a whole zombie/demon/monsters/ghosts mod or something? all the best tho.

If you're going to do a mod like this you should expand episode six of Half Life 2, the whole "We don't go to Ravenholm" like do the story of what happened to Ravenholm with the priest as one character and make other survivors. Ya know?

So is this mod basically just co-op against the old Half-Life 2 zombie enemies? :/ When it comes to zombie mods in particular, you should try and be as original as possible. You've got a good story, you should try and think up some original gameplay, something to set it apart from the rest. Is it just gonna be killing or do you plan on having objectives?

Well, there are to be objectives, but without a programmer I really don't have much.

Currently though, one thing I am doing is adding triggers to the end of each level to switch it to the next level. This sort of blends single-player and multi-player into the same package.
