Something often overlooked as well, this ship has a beautiful shadow, such as all the Vong ships. Excellent work Revan, I'm pushing you hard and you are doing incredible work my friend :)

last time we poked him.... he was still breathing....

Hardcore modding on this team, no mercy, only the strong survive
In all seriousness though, Doci did outstanding work here... he made about 7 or 8 different texture smart materials just for this ship, so it's not just making a texture, its a texture material that can be edited and adjusted for application to many other models, please give him praise

This stuff is just amazing, really looking forward to the release, now just out of curiosity, I have some issues performance-wise with some mods, from my understanding due to my quad core not being as efficient when i set my affinity to one or two cores. How hard is this mod gonna hit my computer when I try to play it?

We are optimizing everything. Kad and Wariscool should be able to give a more clear answer, but from last they told me, the mod runs better and more stable than the original game. That is what I was told, when they are online next, they will be able to give a better answer

Are organic ships like these harder to model than more conventional ship designs?

yes and no....

Conventional ships are much more intricate with detail, which allows accidents to occur more frequently due to just the fact that there are more pieces to a model. Organic ships are more easy to make, but are more difficult to make look good. You can easily make a sphere and call it an asteroid. But thinking about and having the imagination to make that asteroid into an alien ship, that looks just as good as a conventional ship and has the same attention to detail is a bit of a challenge. Our Conventional ships have multiple levels of details, there is the base hull, then there are turrets, then there are small greeble props and then fine details like tractor beam towers and antennae.... Alien ships do not have this... so I had to develop a working multi-tier set of 'alien details' that could be used just like the conventional ships. But with all models, they do become easier with repetition and more being made, but the first few ships took a lot of effort to figure things out

Thanks. They look great by the way. Even though they were built by filthy xeno scum.

Description

Another homage to EvilleJedi, our father of the Vong. Many will remember this 'mushroom' ship from Warlords, it was a great design, we had to use it as well.

The Vol'Chaka was a unique Vong ship, grown out of the hull of Kor Chokk's. The growth would appear as a bony blister on the surface of the Kor Chokk, attributing the ships armor and protection by having 3 medium Magama Missile launcher and Dovin Basal recessions grow out of the blister dome surface. Underneath the shell however, the Vol'Chaka would grow inside of the Kor Chokk until fully developed, when it would be ejected alive into the void of space. Vol'Chaka, despite their thick armored head dome were relatively weak, due to the fleshy fozen/crystallized skin. only a thin mucus membrane, frozen to the surface protected the ships from the vacuum of space, allowing a rare glimpse the the tissue matter that exists under the yorik-coral of other Vong warships.

Vol'Chaka were armed with 3 Medium Magma-Missile launcher on the front, and around the mid-section were grown tube organs known as 'Rock-spitters', which were fire like AA weapons, but could also damage smaller capital ships. The tail of the ship featured an array of long purple/orange tendrils.. from these fighter squadrons would be nurtured and released. The Vol'Chaka carried 1 squadron of Tsik-Seru Bombers.

So, with this Model... I tried to break Doci. Revan made him an amazing UV to get him started, really a not well understood part of modding that Revan is just extraordinarily gifted at. Then we gave the model to Doci, and that is where the pain began. I explained to Doci that this ship, only the size of corvette, will feature almost all of the Vong Textures. I gave him strange concepts, and showed him some very gross pictures.... (the amniotic snake sac...) and pushed him hard with trying not just new textures, but adjustable smart materials for applying to future units as well...

Doci not only survived, he way surpassed all our expectation
