Sullust
What we know:
A highly volcanic planet located in the Outer Rim territories. Sullust was a molten rock of a world, dotted with active volcanoes with an extremely toxic atmosphere. The landscape was covered in oceans and rivers of active lava while geysers spewed forth noxious gases that occasionally blocked out the sky. Valued by the Empire as a production world, the planet was rich in ore deposits making it an excellent mining world to supply the Empire's ship production.
Sullustians built vast underground cities to escape the deadly surface built within natural found lava tubes and chambers located far below the surface. With the presence of the industrious SoroSuub mining corporation, the more the Sullustians mined, the more their cities grew.
The space around Sullust was almost as treacherous as the planet's surface. Located at the end of the Asteroid Belt, Sullust's space was continuously plagued by rogue asteroids, making the establishment of permanent orbital facilities nearly impossible. The deadly space lanes led to the construction of the famous hulled ships of Sullust, which soon began to appear during Civil War. Sullust soon became known as a planet capable of producing some of the strongest hulled ships on the same level of comparison with Mandalor.
But the question remains:
What happened during the era of the Civil War to give Sullust such reknown ship making capablilities???
A planet where it's denizens lived completely underground, no known orbital facilities during the Clone Wars era, then suddenly, as if almost overnight with the Sullustion people gaining their independence from the Empire, Dauntlesses, Quasars and Liberators soon began to emerge out of Sullust space to aid the Rebel Alliance to freedom...
But how did this come about....
And that concludes Chapter one :D
Sounds like the perfect planet for vacation
Hmm so it's a kind of space faring shipyard and it's canon...? Not a lot of ships matching that description. Nice story btw! and great planet texture! Can't wait to know all the secrets of Sullst.
Underground shipyards! Ourstarblazers.com
And keeping in mind the volatile volcanic surface is wrought with seismic activity, im sure the sullistians, given the independence could engineer a way to safely launch ships from underground facilities. Perhaps reinforcing caverns and dormant volcanic calderas, as well as lining them with plating and airlocks to make navigation to the surface safer. If they can afford to build a space fleet, they can likely afford this feat of engineering.
Like this, but on a larger scale

"Underground shipyards"
Spacebattleship Yamato XD
Power up the motion wave canon! This Imperial scum will burn! ;D
Underground shipyards are interesting, but that is not the surprise..
This is NOT the planet texture, this is just the canon image from Star Wars atlas.
I have something much better in store for everyone...

we will be pleasantly surprised
I'm sticking with the World-Devastator theory.
Cannon, fits with time period, and can function the same.
And can grow to be absolutely huge.
Cannon? Youtu.be
"Located at the end of the Anoat Asteroid Belt", is that a bit of bending for the mod?
Agreed. The two are a good 17,000 light years apart. Also never heard of any kind of asteroids in orbit...
Also Soro-Suub didn't suddenly start making starships during the Civil War. They were forced to produce warships for the Sith Empire during the Cold War and Galactic War.
Lol, ok guys, I edited the text to not cite anoat asteroids, you are correct, it is a bit far :)
There is little information available about Sullust, which is why I invented all this. We can just say that Sullust is "near" some other asteroids, not the famed Anoat. I couldn't find any resources that talked about Sullustian ship production prior to the Civil War, so that sort of serves as the basis for the story: the Empire bolstered ship production capabilities to fuel star ship production galaxy wide.
We are creating this story for fun, it passes some time while we wait for the model to be finished. I should have the model finished in a day or so, so please do fact check me, I will try my best to incorporate any new knowledge into the tale, but also try to have some fun with this too ;)
The plot thickens.
