So the Dreadnaught is probably one of the most iconic and hardest ships to make in all of SW lore... that clamshell head has been attempted by many. I am finally happy with this version, for this model has been in production for about 2 years. Farseer had the best aft I have ever seen for this model, so that was combined with the head head section that was donated to by an anonymous donor. It really bothered me seeing the gun blisters on other models... some had no turrets, some had turret cut outs with no turrets, and others had 1 single turret. The blister was supposed to be a weapons pod, so I developed this concept with the4 turrets housed together.

I hope you enjoy it.

Rendili will also be featuring the Assault Frigate, Assault Frigate MK2 (already shown), Vainglorious frigate and the Rendili Battleship.

They were very outdated by this period of time, as were the dreadnoughts but as the war went on more mothballed ships were reactivated, re-armed, and sent to the frontlines.
Also I quote

Despite that the battle to capture the lost fleet of 200 dreadnaughts was fierce outdated they may have been but powerful ships they were. Considering that those gun blisters could all be directed to fire for powerful broadside barrages.

So if i understood correctly, in real life terms that would be WW2 tank armed with modern weaponry and equipment?
Or more like STG-44, old(est), but still does the job?

The armor is still the same, as is the weaponry.

Modern ships include new technological weapons, such as proton torpedoes, ion cannons, advanced sensors and more powerful weaponry. The dreadnaught was built solely for battle, it is 1 massive weapons platform. Compared to modern day ships such as the NR fleet, it has less powerful shilding, but this is countered by having 4 shield generators, it has no long rang weapons, and no heavy weapons. The Nebulon B was built much later than the Dreadnaught. The Nebulon B features 6 dual medium turbos, 4 light lasers and 1 heavy laser. Future design ships allowed heavier weapons to be built on smaller frames. The Dreadnaught is considered outdated due to his high crew requirement (which will equate to a high build oost), slow speed, and lack of heavy and long range weaponry. But it is still a deadly tough armored ship that can take twice the beating of a nebulon B and at close range is better suited for AA defense and close capital ship combat vs other corvettes, frigates and cruisers.

So, for a higher cost, the player can purchase a close range, hard to destroy vessel that has the firepower equivalent to several smaller ships.

One must remember, even modern day navy's such as the United States still have battleships, armed with the most powerful guns, yet built on hulls and technology from the 1920's. And they are still in active use today.

Dreadnaughts were used by many worlds as local defense force ships.

Assault Figates MK1 were still used by the NR, they were faster, had stronger shileds, weaker armor, and more weapons, yet still lacked heavy weapons and had the hanger removed.

Assault Frigates MK2 were used more frequently, featuring heavy weapons and AA weapon and having 2 small hangers installed.

looking at the original spec's of the DHC, i've come to the conclusion that she is perfect for system defense, anti-piracy and convoy escort.

her slow speed isn't much worse than larger freighters and transports that would make up a convoy, nor for operations in or around the orbit of a stationary object like a planet or station.

her weapons fit is heavily anti-fighter based, which seeing as how most pirate groups tend to have little larger than corvettes is not a major issue, and her shields and hull were considered very strong in her heyday.

really the only issue she had was the massive crew requirement.

against more modern ships, different story, but this is a design that was considered common before the clone wars.
the Imperial upgrades still make it a competent ship against more modern foes, so long as they aren't as powerful.

hell, since she was one of the most common ships built (the Old Republic did devote 6 to a scientific mission and 200 to an experiment in extreme automation, after all,) there are almost certain to be some extremely customized models out there.

i wouldn't be surprised if you gutted the ship and put in more modern components, you end up with an even more powerful front line cruiser than what you have now, and it'd probably have a larger hanger for a second or maybe even a third squadron of fighters

Great ideas, but it was replaced by the Assault Cruiser 1 and 2, and then later by the modular component fleet of the New Republic.

The dreadnaught will be in some local defense fleets and in some pirate fleets, but we don't want to over use it either, for every planet had their own unique ship styles and designs, and this will be displayed with pirate and smuggler factions that are spread out over the galaxy, where they will use new ship designs that reflect their nearby worlds.

It wouldn't be a EAW mod if it didn't have the Dreadnaught.....

.....assuming of course the time period wouldn't fit.
