A unique Minor Hero ship, the Mercy Hospital Frigate was a large slow moving ship that can heal nearby units.
Located at Rendili.
Wookiepedia states that this ship was 2000 m long, but that was obviously the report of a wounded pilot who was probably under the influence of some pain medicine. I have chosen a more believable size for this ship based off of what Drone has depicted in his concept sketch.

The Millenium Falcon can fit with room inside the hanger, just an example of how we are attempting to accurately scale.
How exactly does the healing work? Does it just repair nearby ships in space combat or does it heal ground units if in orbit or something entirely different?

So....it uses painkillers, hypodermic needles, medical droids, and bacta tanks on the INSIDE of the ship to repair other, massive, non-biological ships?
Pretty amazing huh? The future and medicine is going to be MINDBLOWING!
Because we cannot simulate shuttles performing medvac missions, giving a hospital ship a passive heal/repair is the best we can think of to portray the role that a hospital ship might have during a battle.
Remember, despite how real we try to make everything, we are bound by the limits of the game.

The C-Class was the first where we initially introduced the idea of hospital frigates.
Ideally, it would be great if fleet tenders only healed fighters, repair ships only capital ships and if hospital ships gave a slower gradual passive repair to everything. We have not tested if different healing rates can be applied to different unit types. If this is possible, we will do as I just described, if not, all units will have same heal rate, but the different ships would have different speed, armor and weapons that would help define their role in the game.
It might be a good idea to give all ground units a passive heal rate if a hospital ship is in orbit. This could be a good suggestion that we adopt.
Another idea, to help the believability factor, is that we create hospital shuttle model (about the size of a fighter) and have a few of these be animated to constantly be flying in and out of the hospital ship. I don't think we can have a shuttle fly directly to a target to repair/heal it, but we would have to talk, discuss, create and examine how it all works in the game.

"We have not tested if different healing rates can be applied to different unit types." - AFAIR having edited similar attributes, this should be quite possible by adding different ability instances.

Aw man that'd be super cool to actually have little shuttles flying to the various ships on the battlefield or evacuate a burning husk of a downed capital ship.
But still though, that's really awesome the way you guys are gonna add repair ships. It was totally missing from the game.
