The MC80 line of ships is now complete.

Only a few more Mon Cal's to work through before we move on to completing the next faction.

Fleet Commander bonus? So some ships are going to be designated as flagships?

Yes. Fleet commanders will not be buildable units. Instead, certain minor heroes will be given this ability. For the Hutts and the Galactic Alliance, minor heroes (people and ships) will be given the ability of fleet commander. This is true also for the Vong, except that they will also have the Clustership which is a freely buildable unit that also posses the FC ability bonus. The reason for this decision is that a true fleet commander should be someone/ship that has acquired years of combat experience, not just someone who recently graduated the academy. All minor heroes will not be able to be rebuilt. Once they die, they are lost forever.

There will be a variety of fleet and ground commanders thought the game. All the generals, captains, admirals, Jedi, pirate lords and smuggler scum of any significance will be used for these roles. The Vong War was a time of great loss and sorrow. Our goal is to have the player experience this as they play the mod. We hope that the player can enjoy playing with all the unique heroes, and truly feel the pain when they are blown out of the skies for good.

Minor heroes being gone permanently once defeated is a great idea.

wow, i think this is my second favorite design of all the ships ive seen you make, i guess im a fan of the ships wich are somewhat large but still fast and well armed, their apearence is always so inspiring, like a big bird of prey.

I usually don't like Mon Cal ships but this one is niiiiice! Think you guys could make it a little bit bigger? A "command ship" shouldn't be smaller than the average cruiser. just a thought. ;)

Burntstrobe May 12 2013, 2:23pm replied:

Ship is accurately scaled, it is supposed to be smaller than the liberty.

A command ship does not have to be large. A command ship is a ship that offers special tactical advantages for a given situation. The Naritus is ideal for strike missions. It is an ideal command ship for leading a small fleet of frigates against a target that is not a main enemy stronghold. The Naritus is for those "other missions". The Naritus is a pirate hunter ;)

There will be 2 other command ships from the Mon Cals. One is the Viscount, the other is something special. These will be the large command ships that will be ideal for the giant fleet battles against fortified strongholds.

Pirate hunter, eh? I guess I can always make it bigger myself when I get my hands on the mod ;)

Well consider me utterly hyped up for that "something special" :P

This design is not from EJ, it was made by first time by JM for the xwing alliance games and he named to it MC75.

Thank you for the correction, I will change the credits. I had the model but did not know who it was from. In the end I have rebuilt most of it myself, but I will give proper credit to JM.

The Naritus was one of the last remaining MC80A class cruisers from the early days of the rebellion. Upgraded with heavier weapons and and advanced communications array over the years, the Naritus serves the role of a quick strike command ship.

Armed with 6 heavy dual barrel beam laser turrets and an assortment of medium and light turbo lasers and ions housed in armored blister domes, the ship is well armed for its size. Extra thrusters gives the Naritus quick strike capabilities by allowing it to maneuver at much faster speeds similar to a much smaller frigate sized ship. Although having significantly weaker armor than its successor the MC80 Liberty class, the Naritus features triple layered shields, stronger than the Liberty's, which allow it to take an incredible amount of punishment from energy based weapons.

The Naritus serves as a command ship and is therefore granted the Fleet Commander bonus. It also features 5 hangers (2 at the bow sides, 2 middle sides and 1 middle top), 2 of which are enlarged repair hangers which allows the ship to passively repair fighters in battle, and launches 6 squadrons of fighters. Naritus also features a bow mounted tractor beam and wing mounted PDS (point-defense systems).

A smaller cruiser, but there was definitely a reason the Imperial Star Destroyer captain's feared her.
