MC80 Home Once Type Battleship: Independence
Originally retrofitted as a deep space communications support platform for the rebellion war, the Independence has gone through many revisions and upgrades to allow it to continue serving the New Republic as a fleet command ship tasked with hunting down the Vong in outlying sectors around Dac.
The Independence features heavy armor plating and superior Mon Cal shields. Armed with 34 heavy dual barrel turbo laser turrets, and 4 front flank mounted dual heavy laser turrets, the ship excels with breaking into enemy formations to unleash its devastating broadsides. 2 small fighter hangers flank the rear command bridge with 2 larger support hangers along the sides of the ship allowing for larger shuttle attack craft to be launched.
The Independence is a unique 1 time build minor hero ship. It features faster speed for a ship of its size, comparable to the MC80B class. The advanced radar and communication arrays allow for split second fleet coordination giving the ship a strong fleet commander bonus as well as the passive ability of stealth detection.

The model looks good but i personalty think that mostly all the ship the rebels used are ugly

now this is what a Command and Control ship should be
she has enough fire-power on her own to take on most Cruisers, yet carries a large enough Air-wing to take on more dedicated warships, and powerful enough engines to operate at speeds normally reserved for smaller, lighter designs. and her Communications and Sensor equipment i imagine is more comprehensive than many other ships of its size

i've occasionally heard complaints that the sub-class is not powerful enough, but her role is not to directly inflict major damage onto the enemy.
her most powerful weapons are the map, the binoculars, and the radio. with the map, she can find any terrain (asteroids, planetary bodies, stations, etc) to watch out for or to take advantage of. with the binoculars, she can find a weak spot in the enemy force to exploit. and with the radio, she can direct her own forces to focus on that weakness.
at this point in history, a command ship like Independence, leading a task force, would likely have an ISD-2 in its employ. those Octuple-mounted Heavy Turbos can bring to bear the equivalent of up to 48 Heavy Turbos on a target, so having heavy firepower on the command ship wouldn't be as important as in the past. that and the air wing of 10 squadrons of fighters (Endor Numbers. figure the same for discussion purposes) and unless you run into an Executor, you should be okay

i'm still not convinced Independence and Home One are different ships. what i believe is that Home One is merely the Operational Designation/Radio Call-Sign, similar to how Lando and the Falcon were Gold Leader, or how the Redemption, a Neb-B was referred to as the Medical Frigate.
There were 4 homeone class ships at battle of Endor, one of which the Death Star destroyed.
there were seven confirmed. Flagship Home One was decommissioned 21ABY, 4 years before the mod. Independence was the last one still serving the republic

Ah so its a specific ship not a type of ship.
Home One was the first deep space exploration vessel retrofitted by the Mon Cals. Several others were converted also durring the rebellion, Independence being one. By the time of the Vong war, the Home One was decommissioned after years of battling the Empire. The Independence and I believe 6 others were still in service by the time of the Vong invasion.
To simplify matters for the mod, since this type of ship was a rarity amongst the Mon Cal fleet, we will portray that by only allowing one particular minor hero ship to be built. It will have increased line of sight, fleet commander bonus, and reveal stealth units. If it is destroyed, it is lost for good.
Mod note: fleet commanders will not be buildable. This special bonus will be reserved by specific minor hero units ;)
