im thinking that its a Scale-down. i figure that at some point, Mon Cal shipyards would have said "screw it" with regards to the individuality of their ships, for the sake of production, and decided to have a small number of standard design templates, each with some options to get more utility out of the designs. in this case, taking an MC-40-design, and shrinking it down to serve as a Corvette
that or its an april fools thing

No April fools, you were correct with fist assessment.

MC40 looks different, hopefully finished tonight.

i can't help but think that ion cannons would be horribly ineffective against the Yuushan-Vong.

Also, drains dovin basal power, but virtually zero hull damage.

i suppose at some point realism would have to make way for game play, hey it's star wars. but i don't see how ion cannons would have any effect on organic matter. (just in universe physics.)

They don't, which is why I stated "virtually" zero hull damage. The electric shock from the ion burst would cause some slight surface damage. Dovin Basals on the other hand, required energy to absorb all and any incoming projectiles. After some time, a dovin basal could be overloaded and rendered dormant while it recharged its power reserve.

Vong dovin basal power : shields
Yorik coral : medium grade armor
Vong metal ore : heavy armor

oh right, sry. i was thinking that you meant when the ion cannons were actually hitting the dovin basals themselves. although the Yushan Vong were getting pretty smart about how to use dovin basals in the late series, maybe find a way to make it so that at tech 4/5 dovin basals just let ion cannons through as they aren't any real threat to the ship itself? not sure if that's actually possible in the game engine.

just need to make stasis guns, guns that create a stasis field in an organic matter it comes in contact with. Terribly effective vs the Vong, limited effectiveness vs other factions

I remember in a few books reading the effects of an ion cannon/blaster on a living being. It scrambles their nervous system. So while may not do much damage an ion cannon would basically shut down biologicals it hits more effectively than electronics which have surge protectors

Where are these numbers from?

Can you provide links for canonical reference?

I have only really ever heard of the MC80, 90 and 40.

Forget the MC55 Star Frigate, its design is quite bad:
MC60, 75: SOTE Mod, z3r0x's Foc addon v3.5mod, Alliance Mod,Absolute Corruption Mod
MC104: Absolute Corruption Mod, Alliance, SOTE Mod

Thanks for explaining, but I do believe they are all fannon. People just used the names that evillejedi first gave them since all of those mods used his models also.

While his models are excellent, I will be changing things to better suite our time period and be more believable for the universe we are creating here.

With the need for a fast assault ship capable of immobilizing much larger warships, the MC20 Frigate was developed. The ship is fast and nimble, with decent armor and good shielding.

It features 2 forward fixed heavy ion cannons, 5 dual medium turbolaser turrets and and internal light turbolaser gun points.

These ships excel at hit and run tactics, leaving the enemy adrift for the larger Mon Cal ships to lay their big guns on them.
