RED-RESURRECTION is a new mod developed for YR using the Ares enhancement. The mods primary aim is simple - to bring fun back to YR by testing new gameplay ideas such as more diverse armour types and counters, the new Ares logics, reorganised tech trees for new strategies, special support powers and a whole lot more. Red-Resurrection is host to solid, fluid, well paced gameplay and new unit ideas that suit the over-the-top, nonsensical universe of Yuri's Revenge.

TWO FACTIONS - Red-Resurrection focuses around our two traditional factions and mortal enemies: the Allies and the Soviets, featuring four countries perĀ allegianceĀ in multiplayer.

The Allies once again use high tech weaponry such as forceshields, temporal displacement and lasers whilst also relying on the most powerful airforce and navy in the world. The Soviets return with more radiation weapons, tesla and electronics, napalm and a devastating new set of ground weapons plus the return of their psychic troopers and sensor towers.

In multiplayer each country gains their own tactical unit choices, veteran units and a totally unique unit based on the countries tech ideals. Whilst not a goal of the mod, subfaction diversity plays a larger role in Red-Resurrection.

STORYLINE - As Yuri's Revenge has always been known for it's deep and engaging storyline Red-Resurrection intends to uphold that entirely. Red-Resurrection follows the Allied victory in Yuri's Revenge, with a twist...

The war against Yuri's psychic insurrection was swift but destructive - the damage he caused to the political balance in the world was perhaps irreversible. A fragile peace treaty had been signed between the Allies and Moscow but it could not last long... every nation was desperate and suspicious. Not only that but the effects of the Allies' time twisting finally came to fruition. Time quakes altered space as the divergent time lines merged, deciding the final fate of humanity.

Time binds us all.

Now, unbeknownst to the world, the balance of power has been altered by a force entirely out of control. The Allies and Soviets remain in a fragile treaty however the red army has amassed fresh troops millions strong from the most powerful communist powers around the world. Despite the Allies technologically superior force the Soviets now have enough strength to rival their control once more. Fueled by hatred and revolution they are poised to strike.

Worst of all for the Allies, the United States have resolved not to enter conflict with the Communist superpowers after invasion and economic recession. It is down to European countries to defend themselves from the hammer and sickle: the United Kingdom, France, Germany and Greece stand before the red menace, ever advancing.

Time has proved it cannot be manipulated without consequence, but with steadfast determination we can decide our own destinies. The future is in your hands, Commander.

News #3

Jesus the last news was nearly a year ago now, when did that happen?! Well the mod has been very much alive during that period, I've been constantly amending and tweaking the mod trying to make the experience as rounded as possible. Yes progress has been slow but it's only a mod, a hobby and I am now very busy indeed. Just to show the mod is still kicking however I've uploaded a big image of a staged battle to overthrow Yuri's villainous underhanded involvement in the Soviet Union (click to go to image):

Hope you enjoy it! If I had two monitors that could be pretty fun to look at...

The Ides of March

So as I mentioned in the summary Red-Resurrection will make it's first release (regardless of readiness) on the 13th March 2012. This will be a multiplayer release only, meaning skirmish and online multiplayer but no campaign. This is what you get:

  • The full two sides, Allies and Soviets, each with four playable multiplayer countries: United Kingdom, France, Germany, Greece, USSR, Yugoslavia, Libya and Iraq.
  • Each country will come with one unique unit and two units shared with one other country from that side.
  • Virtually every unit is replaced! Although the style is very much 'Yuri's Revenge' both factions have almost completely replaced arsenals allowing a greater degree of control over balance, factional differences and potential strategies and tactics.

So look forward to that. After the first release I will definately support the mod with frequent updates if bugs and balance reports are made and will continue on developing the singleplayer aspect.
Until next time (sooner than a year I promise) thanks very much and I hope to see you on the battlefield on March 13th!

Ok unfortunately I'm really busy at school ATM (in a few weeks I'll be doing 3 weeks of 10 hour days including 13 days straight uhhhh). As you can see I've set the release date of a multiplayer release for March, including both Allies and Soviets with all country specials. I just need to get that finished, there isn't too much to do. Once released I'll work on necessary patches, expanding multiplayer and proper singleplayer mode.

The fact the last news post was in 2010 makes me sad. I thought I was nearly finished way back then but yea... March.

One problem i know this is fiction and alternate universe or something but Germany arent allowed to raise an army so surely they are quite useless

I think as WW2 never occurred and Germany joined the Allies against the USSR any limits set by Versailles (the only restriction I know of) would be removed, if it hasn't been in reality anyway.

No it's not dead, I'm working on it. Most changes I don't think are screenshot worthy at the moment. I'm holding out for a big update.

I Hope you Change all the Explosion Anims. to be more of an eye opener. it'd be a nice improvment. granted it looks as though it's getting along nicely. Keep up the work. Bolt.

By The Way...America does need a break from wars so it's retiring in your mod for now. Heh heh...

I don't think I'll be replacing explosions tbh, as I've no experience myself and the only real complete set of anims is Gamemate's, which has been used a lot already. I kinda like the YR explosions myself.

Regarding America, you'll hopefully see why they leave the war in the prologue mini-campaign.

I see you're using my AL logo there. :P
