XWVM is a mod to the original X-Wing game from Lucas Arts and Totally Games by Larry Holland and Edward Kilham. We are re-implementing the executable to extend the game beyond its original hardware support. The mod of course requires the player to own and have installation of the original X-Wing game, or have the GOG or Steam versions of X-Wing Special Edition (either the 1993 floppy, the 1994 CD, and/or 1998 Windows edition). The team of fans developing XWVM is not associated with Lucasfilm Ltd or Disney, and XWVM is not an official Star Wars product. XWVM isn't a standalone game, or total conversion, but a mod to the original. XWVM neither contains nor distributes any copyrighted material. All game resource files (missions, voice overs, SFX, iMUSE automaton, in-game graphics and 3D models, etc) are loaded from the player's copy of the original game, or are replacements originally created by our team, where the original resources are considered inadequate for today's standards.
More coming soon :)

So excited for this. Tie Fighter is still really playable but X-Wing has sadly aged a bit too far. Miss this gem of a game.
Amazing work, looks great!
Rotating turrets!!! An ongoing thought I had is how you guys are going to handle capital ship fire... in the original, some ships were easy, such as the CR90, just coming from the main turrets. All the larger ships: star destroyers, EF76s, and MC80s had random disperson. Will this be adjusted into actual "batteries" of weapons? Will the CR90 get its smaller laser cannons, for example? Any chance these smaller batteries may be targetable? For example, in the original game, the SD's shield generators could be taken out. Just some thoughts. You guys are doing great work!
Thank you.
Yes, all our capital ships will receive actual visible turrets.
To keep the original balance intact, the CR90 will only use its main turrets as the smaller ones weren't in use before XWA.
Except for the CR90's turrets and the ISD's shield generators, we do not intend to have components destructable for the X-Wing ruleset. They will be destructable on the other rulesets however.
Hi, any updates? I can't wait to play Xwing with a modern engine, don't let me down please
