XWVM is a mod to the original X-Wing game from Lucas Arts and Totally Games by Larry Holland and Edward Kilham. We are re-implementing the executable to extend the game beyond its original hardware support. The mod of course requires the player to own and have installation of the original X-Wing game, or have the GOG or Steam versions of X-Wing Special Edition (either the 1993 floppy, the 1994 CD, and/or 1998 Windows edition). The team of fans developing XWVM is not associated with Lucasfilm Ltd or Disney, and XWVM is not an official Star Wars product. XWVM isn't a standalone game, or total conversion, but a mod to the original. XWVM neither contains nor distributes any copyrighted material. All game resource files (missions, voice overs, SFX, iMUSE automaton, in-game graphics and 3D models, etc) are loaded from the player's copy of the original game, or are replacements originally created by our team, where the original resources are considered inadequate for today's standards.

Looks incredible. Just be careful that the targeting reticule and the cockpit aren't too close together. Can mess up the gameplay.

That will be addressed when we get around to using our own cockpit.

Looks really cool!
Seems like gun convergence is much further than engagement range.
Also those corvettes did not take a lot of damage did they?

They were already heavily damaged, as you can see in the CMD. X-Wing didn't have any laser convergence.

No convergence is exactly what we want :) Like 25 years ago ahah!
Some fighters have more firepower and less good convergence or inverse it's good this way.
More hard (well just a habbit to take), more realistic = more fun.
The thing we need is ions and lasers coupling.

Absolutely stunning! Giving the ISD the same engine noise as the ones in the original game's cutscenes was a nice touch.

Very good job, a quick note, the lasers should be faster in non-sync mode so 1 by 1 will you improve that? also not a lot of TIE hunter in the video is this normal? apart from that the very good job quickly that the mod out, thank you to you

What is non-sync mode? Lasers are the same speed as in the original. How many times did you see a TIE Hunter in the original?

I mean one laser at a time and not 2 or 4 at the same time, I was just wondering if you were going to increase the speed of the lazer shots

Looks fine to me.

Each laser needs the same amount of "cooldown" time. If they are not linked each will fire at 1/4 "cooldown" time intervals giving more or less "continous" fire.

1,2,3,4 - lasers
t -time

1 x . . . x . . .
2 . x . . . x . .
3 . . x . . . x .
4 . . . x . . . x
t . . . . . . . .

Linking two lasers will fire two laser simultaneously at 1/2 of "cooldown" time intervals, alternating between 2 pairs.

1 x . . . x . . .
2 x . . . x . . .
3 . . x . . . x .
4 . . x . . . x .
t . . . . . . . .

Linking all four lasers will fire all at the same time at the "cooldown" time intervals.

1 x . . . x . . .
2 x . . . x . . .
3 x . . . x . . .
4 x . . . x . . .
t . . . . . . . .

There's no such thing as TIE Hunter in X-Wing game from 1993/1994 :)

I have the impression that the Guest is mistaking X-wing with the more arcadey Rogue Squadron, where laser shots had a higher firerate.

I remember when playing original xwing when you did shoot maximal rate with 1 by 1 (aka no sync mode) you did empty your lasers gauge slower than when you use sync mode 2 by 2 or 4 at same time. ( i did test if 25 years ago it was floppy xwing install maybe they did tweak it since that )
If you empty your lasers gauge faster it mean your DPS are higher that's what he mean.

And about TIE hunter he mean TIE hunterS well TIE fighterS.
In french for example we say hunter ( chasseur ) for air force plane. Fighter is more for boxing or martial arts (combattant).
Guess he mean the empire will not send his TIEs 2 by 2 but more like 12 by 12 agaisnt the rebels haha.
