If you're using that func_reflective_glass + translucent func_brush method, I advise you to use that VERY sparingly. Source really doesn't like it for a bunch of reasons.

The problem you've explained isn't hard-coded or even difficult to attack. The ability to use this in con-junction with another is now free'd!

In all fairness, we do use a heap of programs to compile environments, most of which are to fight common optimization problems.
