Unreal Baseball

News

Plans to reboot Unreal Baseball have been announced. Stefan Klein, lead developer, had the following to say:

"It has been quite some time since I have done anything with Unreal Baseball, but I am wanting to bring the project back! I had discussed switching engines to id Tech 4 because of the GPL release of the engine, but seeing as the UDK has been released I could use Unreal and still make a standalone game (and maybe even for mobiles). I will be starting from scratch. Progress may be slow, at least for a while, but I really do want to get this project going again, and I'll keep everyone updated as it moves forward!"

Exact details, such as which engine will be used and a release date have yet to be announced.

I'm so sorry for the lack of updates guys! Life has been chaotic and busy! So are people still wanting id tech 3 or 4, or does the UDK make Unreal the best option?

I think UDK might be the easiest way. I don't know anything about programming though, so I wouldn't really be able to make a full comparison, but seeing as how most of the tools are already made available through UDK, it seems more reasonable.

That's a great idea, that way the community can keep working and people can pass along the work in progress. That way people's lives don't pause the project...

WOW must be quite lame to have to swirch engines, but I guess if its giving you hassles then its the best thing you can do to move the mod forward, I reckon that since the id tech 4 engine has been out WAY longer, you'll probably be able to get more out of it and it'll work on more pcs since its less demanding, so you never know, the change could be a blessing in disguise!

Hey, my first ever watcher! I also think it will get to more people, id Tech 4, will be under GPL (free) soon, so... I could make a separate game, if you think I should stick with the Unreal Engine, let me know, I want feedback before I commit, but I have had less glitches with DoomEDIT and Radiant, but if everyone wants Unreal 3, Unreal 3 it is!

Hmmmm, seems pretty tough decision because of the many pluses to each, I reckon making it a standalone could be a good idea cos then people won't need the game (UT3) to play it and it should be less demanding on hardware (atl east I think), I guess it depends on other things like development time & effort and end result
