I'm a huge Eldar fan and make full use of Fire Dragons, Dark Reapers, Warp Spiders teleport-dancing with Haywire grenades, Support Platforms and Nightspinners (and Voidspinners, if I ever get to that tier) when trapping an enemy within their own base. Imperial Guard also have an similar effective strategy from the word go. But I'm wondering if any other races have their own version of siege warfare. I always struggle to use Orks as well as play against them but what artillery do the other races have? Looking at weapon ranges, it seems Necrons and Chaos are disadvantaged here. Any ideas what to use for those races in that scenario? And who would you say is your personal best at sieges?
Edit: Imperial Guard was somehow left off this so if someone can edit the poll to include them

Yeah, that's a good point seeing as I put them first on the list. And it won't even let me edit it *face palm*

I'm confused, are you talking about sieges, or are you talking about artillery? Sieges are something i nwhich you get in close range, with like a "battering ram", that is a very powerful shell to penetrate defenses. Not... artillery.

Anyways, Necrons are so not disadvantaged in anything (except their economy atm). They can upgrade their Overcharged gauss shot to encounter enemies at long, long ranges in exhange for movement speed and accuracy, and if that fails, they can push through anything, get back up, and use devastating abilities to turn the tide.

Orks are slightly underpowered, but if you reinforce your entire squad to full strength, and use them right, they are the best siege units in the game, along side Tyranids who can just push and push and push.

Hmm, not sure what you're thinking by the word 'siege' there but right back to the good old Trebuchet, sieges have mostly always used artillery. A quick Google search brings its definition up better than I can explain it although traditionally can of course use both. A siege engine for example can be used at range or in close position. The word 'Siege' even literally means, 'to sit' and the main constant of siege warfare is that one party simply holds out whilst another attempts to overcome their static position. Unlike a close combat assault this is usually a prolonged battle. As the object of sieges was to cripple defences and morale with as little damage as possible to the attacking force, artillery has always been the most effective way right up until the advent of mobile warfare.

Sorry, I'm waffling. With Orks I'll still go down in flames whatever tactic or strategy I use and whatever win condition I'm up against. I'm just going to have to resign to the fact that I'm really bad at using them and always will be lol
