Do we need a restrict flyers rule?
Or is there a better way?
With Anti-Aircraft damages.

So I hear you saying the mod needs good Anti-Air assets?
Like an AA stubber upgrade for tanks that does more damage to air units?
Like Hunter Killers(HK) that dominate the weak armour of the Flyers and does colossus amounts of damage to them.
Sort of like they did in 3rd edition 40k with the AA abilities to get flyers/floaters.

I actually like this idea but as I don't know if it is possible to do insanely large amounts of damage to air units in code, I don't know if it is possible.

So if a HK hits a tank you get regular damage,
But if a HK hits a flyer, you get a flyers down?


Either an ability that damages aircraft more seriously?
Hunter killer missile was just an example.
If you can think of examples for other races it would be handy for the mod.

Just thoughts. :) Help out?

I just think it should be an Option to restrict them. Kepp them in there for people who like them, have an option for those who do not :3

Ok, ok. I'll try to overcome my ork-level coding capabilities and go for a "Restrict Flyers" win condition. It's just that SCaR doesn't like how I put win conditions together for some reason and they not always work :/

Um... work around. I can just restrict the ai from using flyers....

Flyers are now a big game changing event for 1.72, I DO NOT recommend restricting flyers for players.

Now I remember why I don't code in SCaR. I frikkin' hate the thing.

I only recall it either going fse or activating my win condition while deactivating all the others. Not ONCE working as intended. Well, I think once (from the over a dozen times I tried) it worked. In short, it's frustrating as hell.

What's (much) worse, is that now for some reason the console utterly refuses to show up, making the debugging process a literal guess >:I
I wouldn't count on the Restrict Flyers win condition I tried to make anytime soon :/

Haha ok guys thanks, Lord D how would the Restrict flyers for the AI work? Would it be an option like the Restrict Tiers, ETC like in the skirmish options menu?

No its more of a basic AI will never use aircraft as they get stuck stupidly ruining immersion thing. :P

I was thinking a permanent implementation, no wincondition.

Oh I see..

One thing I would like the AI to do is build every unit in the mod at some point instead of spamming units for variety. So having the AI never build Flyers for those who like to play with flyers doesn't seem fair yah know?

I know I complain alot :P

I say keep them, as air units add another dimension to the game. Give every race a dedicated AA unit with some ground capability (i.e. make the SM Hyperios an AA vehicle, but give it HK missles for use against ground units). A SM Thunderhawk Gunship would also be an awesome relic unit!

Being in Imperial Armour Aereonautica, I believe that the Hyperios was designed for anti air purposes.

The engine for DoW is AWFUL for AC. As I said make it an option to restrict them, so we don't have to use them if we don't want to or if you want to use them you can.

I just hope the option makes it in, but alas I don't think it will since...1.72s Super Weapon Rules will make it more reliant on...flyers and now they MUST be built to win... Atleast I got that impression. I know I complain about it a lot I just don't see why we HAVE to have them and not as an option like restrict Titans Super weapons ETC.
