Hi! I want to say that i'm in love with your super-duper awesome mod and I'm rather new to competetive playing. I'm experiencing trouble and I'm asking for help from experienced players. The question is - how to beat AI controlled Necrons on Hard and Insane difficulties with Speehs Mehreens in 1vs1 battle? I've seen a lot of guides like "How to play Necrons", but I've never seen a detailed guide on "How to beat Necrons".

PS Also, if it is possible, can you give advices on how to beat Necrons with other races?

Thanks in advance for answers.

Turrets and long range marines (aka Devastators) will do their job untill you have most advanced of your vehicles.

Use lasers on your predators, assault terminators and air support. There is no way for imperial factions to win Necrons in fair combat. You must ensure your own security and strike them down with all heavy weapons and power you can find. Don't let them go to melee on you. Also, repair your vehicles in combat and use orbital bombardment ability to slow Necrons down and kill them being supressed.

But beware: you can't just hold the line forever. You'll need to secure some points around the globe with 5-10 turrets and long range units.

DO NOT engage their bases untill you have something really long ranged and evil. I advise you to strike them with nukes before go there with your army. Also, if you can outmanuever their defences - do it. You SHOULD NOT engage their defecnes without need.

It is a challenge for sure to play against the AI necron in hard mode or greater. I tried as well with space marines, against necrons in 1v1. I tried first a rush type tactic since in the past this has worked well...just thinking this would be the easy win before trying a conventional battle. Boy was I wrong. The necron AI builds 4 or more turrets around it's base before I could get enough assult marines over there. Later I had most the map, but I couldn't get into their base due to the defenses, and since they are not map dependent for resources....they just built enough units to start pushing me back. It is pretty amazing how tough they are, with high armor, and the abilty to get back up.

Also, their Necron Lord + any other hero they have, are very tough. As far as tactics though, I think long range against them isn't necessarily the solution. Most their units have very good ranged weapons, and are weak at melee (minus the flayed ones, and higher tier units like pariahs). What is effective is having any units which have meltas or plasma weapons. Also, getting some vehicles out as quickly as possible is good. Once their deathstrike units come out though, it gets very tough.

The problem is that even their tier 1 units are so hard to kill, and necron lord can single handedly take down whole squads while their ranged necrons just wreak havoc.

While I do love the necrons, they are a bit OP vs. other races imo. And also the longer the game is dragged out..., they build a few pyramids, and have a force which is most difficult to defeat.

On standard mode, they are challenging but can be beaten, but man that AI really steps up the difficulty going from Standard to Hard AI. It was also easier in past to defeat them when we could build turrets anywhere, but now just can build them at strategic points or relic points.

Use raptors to harass and keep their scarabs from claiming points, they're slow and can't keep up with their point capping speed and ability. If you can keep their time multiplier low enough they won't stand a chance trying to out-economize you. If in desperation walls are always effective bullet soaks against the AI once battle lines start to form, but against necrons in general your best bet is ALWAYS lascannons, as many lascannons as possible, and any arty you can get pelting the squishier variant of their power plants.
