I remember there was going to be a tutorial about how to apocolyse maps, but I wasn't able to find one, so I figured I would ask here.

There are certain maps that I absolutely love for the set up, such as the Space Marine fortress or the Tau fortress, but unfortunately lack an important feature, such as the critical location or relic. Is there a way to add this ourselves, and share the edited maps with friends so we can play it together?

Also, just wanted to say, thank you so much for all the hard work, everyone involved with this amazing mod!

Yes, if you have Dawn of War: Dark Crusade you can download it's Map Editor and put critical locations and that stuff where you want.

If you want, tell me the maps you want to improve and maybe I can edit them.

Ahh, that's what I was missing! I'll go redownload DC right now, then! I'll attempt to edit them myself, first, but if I find myself unable to adjust them, I would greatly appreciate your help! If I can manage it, I might even upload the altered maps for everyone else.

In fact, moving/adding strategic points, relics, critical positions and slag deposits is pretty easy. I'm sure you will find how to do that, and if not, I'll help you.

I have indeed found it, but now I'm running into a new problem. So, I figured out how to move the map .sgb to the DXP2 folder in Soulstorm, and edit it from there, save it, and then move it back to the Soulstorm folder. However, in cases such as the Tau fortress map, there are many pink textures on the ground and the minimap is a strange green. Otherwise the points I added work fine.

That's because you need not only the .sgb, but also the three .tga (map.sgb, map_icon.tga, map_mm.tga) The pink textures show up when you are missing the textures that the map creator added when editing the map.

Oh, well, that's quite a simple fix, isn't it? Many thanks!

Is there a way for me to replicate said files if I want to create a new copy of the map and rename it to something like _EDITED, and keep the original as it was?

EDIT: Nevermind, I think I figured it out!

Good! Have you found how to quit the pink question textures?

I have gotten everything working ingame for the most part, save for two things: The minimap is mostly green with some blue where the water is, and there is no preview picture when selecting the map. Otherwise, textures are fine, entities are fine, and everything plays as intended.

That's because you need to create a minimap and an icon by yourself (mapname_icon.tga, mapname_mm.tga) If you have only added/moved SP, relics slag deposits and critical positions you can use the original ones.

If you know what files I mean...

EDIT: And also remeber to put the mapname.tga file, so the ground is not purple.

If I created a new copy (Renamed) of the map instead of replacing the old one, is there a way to create new versions of those files to go with it?

Well, the .sgb and the .tga will be created automatically. If you haven't changed anything remarkable on the map (sp, relic, cp and sd doesn't count) you can use the originals icons and minimaps, but be sure you change the name of the file (newmapname_icon.tga, newmapname_mm.tga)
