I lost the old model, so I re-designed the AA.

I'm thinking of a quad ion pulse cannon, or a quad railgun. Thoughts?

maybe this was just a standart machinegun quad and player can upgrade AA to only IPC or only railgun?

hmm... both seem good, but i would suggest keeping with the conventional rail-gun upgrade so that it would be easier to upgrade, either way the design looks fantastic, but i have to ask what is the trigon count on this model as it looks realy retailed

I have no idea what the tri-count is, I usually don't watch it when modeling for CnC3, since it doesn't care so much about tris as it does about draw calls.

I know "what" the tri-count is. I just don't know what the tri-count of this model is >.>

I'm not new to modeling.

trigon is the equivalent to polygon in 3d software like 3ds max, each polygon consists of two "hidden" trigon. don't worry, just technical terms :)

quad ion pulse sounds expensive and too powerful... quad railguns, railguns are used a lot by GDI so the ion pulse cannons will do.

I'd say railgun, it sounds more effective versus fast-moving targets. Ion pulse cannons sounds like they'd need to charge briefly before firing, and blow up whatever section of your base the enemy was flying over when it fired.

I hope it's better than those pussy AA batteries EA gave us in the official version. I mean all the other factions have got meaner anti aircraft than GDI's

Quad railgun AA defense would be ideal.

But railguns would just punch through most aircraft. Too much speed, not much in the way of mass, from what I gather.
Now, quad ion cannons...that sounds all manners of brutal fun.

that's pretty much how you shoot an aircraft down anyway, punch a bunch of holes in it. They aren't armored like tanks so it doesn't take much to rip them apart. Even missiles don't directly impact their targets. They get within a certain range and detonate, sending lots of shrapnel into the unlucky plane.

ion pulse? maybe ion pulse flak? when it hits it expands rapidly and stops.

What I did for better AA, is mod the guardian cannon for a long range flak attack with a nice area of effect to help against those scrin ships, and piles of VTOLS, but not effective vs anything that moves.

why not give it advanced autocannons with S.A.M missiles attached, it's simpler and still effective.

Well, unless you're going for some silly high rate of fire on whichever guns get picked, autocannons and SAMs...

Well, have a vid:

If the missiles don't make a hit the gun's sure as hell will, gotta have back up incase something goes wrong ya know.

give it proximity shells if you want more bang for your buck.

Railguns > Autocannons and missiles.
Ion Pulse Cannons > Railguns.

Pulse, I like actually seeing the projectiles fly rather than the straight line the rail gun leaves.

that gave me an idea. railguns are supposed to be really really really fast, but it might be cool to have an affect for them where you see the bullet fly by instantly, and then a trailing effect thats slightly delayed. i da no, might look awkward.
