Its REALLY thick O.o Might just be me though I dont know it should have some kind of like heat wave sorta thing where its kinda hazy ? you know ? like when your looking at a road when its really hot.. sorta :) just a thought... if you can?
I think the thickness is fine, but it seems a little bland. Maybe add a slight warble or pulsing that they show in the pre-rendered cutscenes. Of course, this is perfectly acceptable as is.

ya, i kinda agree with that cause with the flash u cant even see the tank anymore :P but great job!
Personally I don't really like this effect, I think a very dense heat haze would be more appropriate, perhaps similar to the the Generals microwave tank idle surround effect,
At the moment the beam is really wide and the 'muzzle flash' is really bright, but...
