The Zone's Call returns the player to the southern reaches of the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone, to once again, answer the Zone's Call. With all of the southern areas from Clear Sky, ranging from the expansive Marshes to the eerie Red Forest, along with some of the more well known areas from Shadow of Chernobyl, are used to help complete the world of the southern Exclusion Zone.
Testing out the new squad movement AI. NPC's move around the zone, moving from one place of interest to another. These might be known anomaly fields, abandoned buildings, or just somewhere that offers a good view.
Got plenty more AI features to add in, so this will keep me occupied for a while, and might make for a few interesting video's to show off.
Loners & Bandits??!!
I think thats a Loner in bandit coat, i have seen this in Shoc vannila.
Some loners use leather coats.
Correct. In vanilla SoC, a few Loners wore Bandit suits, and a few bandits wore Loner suits. I've expanded this further, making it so Bandits and Loner's freely use each others gear.
The Bandit faction has undergone several other changes. They are now indistinguishable from regular Loners, and you won't know till they start shooting at you. Or when you go up to talk to them, they might demand your money or your life.
I didn't like it in vanilla how Bandits were portrayed, so I've changed them to Loners who have no problem sticking a bullet in you or another Stalker to have a look at your/their backpack or wallet.
Since you can't tell which is which, will bandits be attacking each other? - like one group of bandits attacking a bypassing group of foreign bandits. In this case, are you going to merge the bandit and the loner AI? .. I think it would be cool if it worked! :)
Since Bandits are now Loners who are more willing to shoot you, or other Loners, its kinda hard to tell which group of Loners is actually Bandits.
I have 2 ways of implementing Bandits at this stage, and I only want to use one of them, but they work differently. But I won't go into details yet. I'll probably explain more on this once the concept is finalized.
Will they be organized faction with base, or just wanderers like loners
Like Loners. Although there may be some vanilla style bandits (or similar) somewhere. Haven't decided yet.
