are the ramps off-center of the gate? it looks pretty sloppy from this angle. lighting looks good though...maybe the portal should give off stronger light, like it did in the Stargate movie...do you have access to "fixed" projected textures (see VDC)? This would be a great place to put a projected texture, right behind the gate prop so it looks like the portal is giving off the dynamic light.

as for the lighting again the pics dont do it justice.. it is better when its running ..
