This is a mod to Homeworld 2 to enjoy the genre of humans vs. technologically superior aliens vs. bugs that you have probably enjoyed in Startship Troopers, Warhammer 40K, Starcraft. There will be three playable races (presently there are two): * Technologically superior aliens * Quickly swarming, locust-like space insects * Humans, a mix between the two Presently "hive" and "primoris" (the bugs and aliens) are included in the mod. Currently, existing HW2 models are being used; but will be replaced with new models in the final version. Mod is presently packaged as a zip archive of the data folders. As it gets a bit further along it will be repackaged as a .big file This is currently my favorite mod of HW2 to play, but it's in it's very early stages.

I don't know much about Rhino.

I've been meaning to write a how-to on HW2 modding (because I'm learning the hard way).

Short version:
(1) Get the Homeworld Universe Mod Tools (I forget where, but try Karos Graveyard).

(2) Get the Relic Developers Network Toolkit (again, I've forgotten where, but try the RDN forums or Karos)

(3) Decompile the following files:
"Data \ scripts \ race.lua"
"Data \building and research \ hiigaran\build.lua"
"Data \ building and research \ hiigaran \ research.lua"
"Data \ scripts \ startingfleets \ hiigaran00.lua"
"Data \ scripts \ formations \ hgn_mothership_parade.lua"
"Data \ scripts \ formations \ hgn_carrier_parade.lua"

(4) Use the RDN Ship Tuning excel spreadsheet to create your new race's ships. You can tweak the spreadsheet to save you the trouble of renaming the ships afterward. Make sure you copy in a *.hod file for the new ships, and make sure hardpoints match up (use the HODEditor tool to do so)

(5) Play. Your AI may or may not need some tweaking.

(6) Spend lots of time on the Karos, Battlestar Galactica, and RDN forums reading through tutorials.

yea I can't find RDN mod tools anywhere. I try to do it the old fashioned way and it crashes. I tried getting ships and weapons from other mods to use as a base as they are completed and I can just tweek values. it crashes.
