Just put this mod here to tell everybody that we NEVER stopped (some members of the group really kept quiet for so long though).
This mod is even older then another project(see Homeworld2: Free Mod) of our group. In fact, we got together right for this mod: to make a campaign of the Vaygr. Yeah, that's our whole idea in the beginning, and now two years have passed, things changed a lot. We got another idea and developed free mod, but when it reached V0.06, we have to stop because of too many problems. I'll explain it there instead of here. In the meanwhile, we caught some good ideas from the DOW series, and put them into this mod. We finally named it "Dark Times Mod", and here it is.

Main Features:

-Remake the Hiigara and Vaygr, create two carrier battle groups to replace them. Each battle group's flagship is a strong carrier.
-Deathmatch rule changed: Player cannot be killed before all his ships were destroyed or all his and his allies' flagship(s) were destroyed.
-Achievement system added. 10 kinds of achievements can be reached so far, and each kind have three levels, players can gain experience and even technologies by reaching an achievement.
-Each player is his battle groups' commander, and need to gain experience to improve his ability to make the fleet stronger. How to do so? Spend RUs, kill enemy squadrons, or capture enemy ships.
-There are three kinds of ability that a player-commander have, they are: control, fight, and technique. Simply, control ability make the fleet bigger, fight ability make each unit stronger, and technique ability make the fleet have more kinds of unit. While things won't go that simple...
-There's also a commander for each kind of unit (none for collectors, probes, etc.), they also need to live and fight to make this kind of unit stronger.
-Also, a system was added in the very beginning, by which players can summon some special units to join in the battle immediately.
-A new game mode, maybe more. Based on new gameplay and some new ideas.
-The most important, our final goal: a campaign with a story from the rising of the Vaygr till several years later than the End War. Mainly focus on one of these two carrier battle groups: the "Falcon", sixth 'special' carrier battle group of the Vaygr.

1.The 'mothership' of player's fleet will be a SPECIAL and STRONG carrier named "Falcon", this was decided in the very beginning.

2.The story began right after Makaan have the core and the Agamemnon. Besides, the Dreadnaught and Planet Killers will all be included more or less.

3.Twelve, maybe more, that's hard to say :p

4.Voice?! Never planned yet, though we know that will be an epic part.

5.Err...I'm sorry...

6.Yes, actually, this is a new race, though most of the models are from the original ones.

Elaboration questions and some more that I've thought of:

1. Does that mean the 'Falcon' will be a remodeled Vargr carrier with new features and stat buffs rivaling that of the two other Motherships?

2. The Agamemnon? The ship featured in the original alpha build that is now presiding in the Karos Graveyard? If yes, please, elaborate! (This has genuinely got me excited :D)

5. Are you not understand the question? Or saying that you won't be looking for voice actors on ModDB / Online that sound like characters from the original game?

6. Will you be removing any units from the original game? Or perhaps adding some units from the original's campaign? Such as the Crew Transports and Low-Orbit Atmosphere Deprivation Weapons?

7. Will you be featuring areas of the galaxy that have been featured throughout the trilogy? Such as Kharak, the nebula of Kadesh, Koreth's Rift, Tanis, the Kadiir Nebula, the Lost Sea of Souls (In which I would personally LOVE to see the ghost ship!)

8. Will any of the events in Cataclysm be present? Even if mentioned? Such as finding the wreckage of the Naggarokk, or the Kuun-Lan's original lower half.

1.We added five weapon slots on it, and give it a stronger data. And by upgrading its production in the game, you can build nearly all kinds of ships, even capital ships, they will come in from hyperspace.

2.Well, nothing special, we thought the Agamemnon should be the former flagship of Makaan, and our story will begin right at that time. So here it is, we made it. Well...nothing more could I say...

5.Since voices are not that necessary, we never thought about that. The first problem should be translation, the diologs must be correct :P

6.Some units did removed so far, like Vgr Minelayer and Command Corvette. But there will be two new frigates instead. As for those SP units, well, some of them will appear again, in our own campaign :D

7.We've made our mainmenu a map viewer, and added many areas' descriptions, though few of them will be exactly where part of our story will take place.

8.We accept the settings in Cataclysm, but that's all, those events happened 100 years ago won't influence anything now. The 'beast' won't be part of our story.

1(b). Does that mean the Falcon will be a remodeled carrier, or just a standard carrier with stat buffs?

7. Are you able to elaborate? Do you mean that the menu will be an interactive map and players will be able to navigate and read about the sectors of their choosing?

8. What about the debris field in Koreth's Rift? Surely the Vaygr would attempt to look for weapons or technology there?

P.S. I'm sorry if I'm coming over a bit strong in asking you questions. I just have a genuine love for the Homeworld Trilogy and would love for a new chapter in that trilogy to be told.

1a. The Falcon can build BC and DD, but that's not enough, so normal carriers and shipyards can also be built for increasing productivity. Vgr Flagship and Pride of Hiigara won't appear in skirmish. And for another carrier, the Vagabond StarDust for Hiigara, a shipyard must be built first before construct BC and DD.

1b. These two carriers themselves are still the original models, as I said above, we just added several weapon slots.

8.Well, that's a good suggestion, we'll think about it. However there are too many different debris fields once appeared in HW series.

Well, that's fine, never mind, happy to see that some people are interested in our work :)

7. So I see the arrows at the top, which I assume change the position of where you're looking. Do you then click on the name to bring up a description at the bottom left? I assume that the bottom right is the standard main menu as well?

1.Don't forget that the Falcon is still a vgr carrier, that means it has only one production slot, while the Vagabond StarDust is an hgn carrier, and it has three production slots. That's the reason why we strengthened the Falcon by making it be able to build more than one family of ships, and giving it two more weapon slots than the Vagabond StarDust.
