G'day Moddb community!
To date we've gotten a good way into the TMP era ship list from the generosity of several modelling sources across the Internet, of note is the esteemed Demon Renegade Studios who have given us permission for a half dozen high quality meshes to be used in our mod, like the Midway class carrier below.
There is a problem that we are dealing with now though, while I am finding meshes and getting them into the game most of them need work, either the mesh is high quality and needs lower quality versions done for the LODs (Level Of Detail) that are used in game when you zoom out too far to see the detail of the ship or the mesh is of low quality and needs enhancing or new textures created from scratch.
This is a huge amount of work for one man, which is currently all we have on that job at the moment!
With this in mind we have posted a job ad for 3D modellers and texturers, in the hope that there are people willing and able to come and contribute, to have their name in stars! (as it were~)
To make the prospect of your work being visible in one of the largest and most intricate Homeworld 2 mods out there even more appealing I have spent hours of my time this weekend creating the following TMP progress trailer!
Even if you can only do textures don't hesitate to contact us, every bit of help brings the next release closer!
Also, as we're not doing so many news posts at the moment, here are the obligatory links to our mod files and Facebook page:

Hotfix for Release Beta:
Continuum Corp.
So... when's this gonna die?
How 'bout "not going"? :3
I love your optimism!
This project has been going on for 2 1/2 years. It's not going to die anytime soon.
Has it really been 2 1/2 years?
Continuum came into existence on the 04/04/11, but we were working on the Star Trek: Homeworld 2 mod for at least a year before that, so yes, it has been about that!
Hey guys love your work as always, wish i had herbys talent or someone close to that on HWU.
Very impressive. I especially liked the shield and warp effects, and the damage effects.
I replayed that video THREE times - yes, it was THAT good.
TERRIFIC work.
The only thing that needs adjusting is that the phaser effects need to better match what we saw in The Motion Picture-era films. The phasers weren't a constant and "solid" stream, but rather moderately lengthy pulses of energy fired at a very rapid rate. If you go to this YouTube commercial, and jump to the 1:16 min. mark, you'll see exactly what I mean: Youtube.com
Note though that the sound effects for the phasers firing is a stand-in from the Star Wars films - the real sounds are far more impressive!
Can't wait to see what you have up your sleeves. Thank you for sharing!
We can most certainly mimic the phaser firing from TMP :)
Oh, I have NO doubts that you'll be able to mimic the phaser firing effects quite nicely!
Out of all of the eras, TMP's phaser effects are the most intimidating to see and hear. I'm confident that the reason why they went back to the solid-constant-stream phasers of TNG were due to one primary reason: it's cheaper to add them into a battle than using what was established in the film franchise.
Too bad.
Well, at least we'll have them to frighten us once more in this terrific mod.
We may not be able to mimic the TMP style movie phasers, this is still up in the air, we'll see though!
IDEA!!! Why not make that you can change phasers and torpedos... Like in Star Trek online?
Due to the way that Homeworld 2 works it's inadvisable that we emulate STO's weapon swapping capabilities.
That and it would be an infuriating exercise setting up weapons on hundreds of ships...
I understand... but maybe in the future.
