Star Trek: Armada III begins with the first stirrings of the Dominion War and allows players to take command of five unique factions, the United Federation of Planets, the Klingon Empire, the Romulan Star Empire, the Cardassian Union/Dominion Alliance, and the Borg Collective. Explore strange new worlds, seek out new life and new civilizations, and boldly go where no one has gone before.
As the title says shes ingame :)
Is there an advantage to this even though it's super cool, and what happens if one part is destroyed?
stop trollin jonsin
nah thats a legitimate question actually
it works the same as MVAM
And how does MVAM work?
I think he means what kind of increase in power with the stardrive section have and will the saucer section have the anti-matter spread from the series??
(my interpretation)
He's asking why this would be an effective way to use the ship in game. You sound like you're avoiding the question.
FYI. No dev team has to give any reason for adding a feature into THEIR mod.
No, but we like to most of the time. :)
Though you have to admit, saucer separation for a Galaxy Class in actuality didn't provide that much of a real tactical advantage apart from unique tricks pulled in TNG.
The Saucer section being incapable of warp meant you sacrificed freedom of movement and required to reconnect if you wanted to run or chase (Provided you weren't willing to sacrifice everyone in the saucer). The two pieces were large and bulky unlike the Prometheus's small and nimble (as well as warp capable) three. Given the fact that you could just focus the (now slightly less powerful) lower engine half and leave the Saucer section as a sitting duck.
Sure you can pull off some nice tricks with the feature but I am pretty sure it's primarily meant on a Galaxy Class to be taken as a life boat as well as test bed of sorts for the Prometheus. I would not try to perform saucer separation in actual combat.
Kiss ***
I wasn't trolling, I love it, I just dont know and havent kept up with how the mvam works on the other post.
"Is there an advantage to this even though it's super cool, and what happens if one part is destroyed?" I would like to know this aswell, because in star trek one of MVAM main advantages was attacking a targets shields from different angles, weakening them and destabilising them. Sins doesn't model this though, and what does happen if a section is destroyed? :/
Ok, so here's what happens, when the multi vector is engaged two (or three depending on the vessel) pieces will spawn. these pieces will have increased firepower, but not as much health as the whole vessel. they will also take on any damage that the original vessel had already taken, so may spawn crippled.
When a piece reaches minimum sustainable hull integrity (in this case zero health) or the timer runs out, all pieces will reform and join back together.
There will also be a penalty after re-integration so the ship will be weaker temporarily. The ability is best used at the right time as a force multiplyer.
So can I have a prometheus class constantly in MVAM or does it use antimatter, and can I warp a ship in MVAM to other systems, so I can basicially have it permanently in MVAM
There's a timer, and when it runs out the ship will rejoin. Sorry did I not say that? I meant to. There's also a cooldown between uses.
ah so a shared health pool, so you have to judge when to use based on the state of the ship on its original form and the situation you are putting it into coz the health will be weaker overall, if they are forced back together they could be on mimimal hp so the ship can be destroyed. Perfectly done.
Although I am wondering how can lower section of the Galaxy fire phasers. If I recall correctly, only the saucer section had phasers, while the lower section had torpedoes.
The engineering hull has phasers, 1 strip underneath, 2 under the nacelles and 2 above the shuttlebay. Not exactly 0
If you say so. You would be the bigger expert among the two of us.

There ya go mate, im not an expert, its just i am a bit of a trekker, look for the strips on the hull, they weren't used often though, shows in the orange nebula!
The Galaxy Stardrive section has 8 phaser arrays if I recall correctly. 2 at the shuttle bay 1 that's hidden by the saucer when it's joined, a strip underneath and then at the base of the nacelle pylons there are 2 above and 2 below. The Venture refit also added phaser arrays on top of the nacelles.
In short, the Galaxy is covered in weapons.
That's very impressive good job.
what ability will it be replacing and will it be a level required ability like the negh'vars ion beam?
