Description

The Zalkonians are a people on the verge of a great evolutionary leap. Unfortunately, the prospect of a fundamental change to their existence has the authoritative Zalkonian government in a near state of panic. Those showing signs of the change are labelled as mutants and fanatically hunted down by the Zalkonian security forces. This has led to a small but growing number of Zalkonians trying to flee this persecution, in the hopes of experiencing the change to their new form in peaceful seclusion. So far, few have survived the attempt at escape.

A highly advanced but intensely xenophobic people, contact with the Zalkonians has so far been limited. They guard their borders ferociously and are willing to go to extreme measures not only to keep foreign influences out, but to keep their citizens within their own space. They have never expressed any interest in parlaying with the rest of the interstellar community whatsoever.

Zalkonian warships are formidable cruisers, carrying firepower similar to that of a Galaxy-class starship. Their commanders will not hesitate to fire on outsiders. As such, encounters with the Zalkonians should be approached with extreme caution.
