Star Trek: Armada III begins with the first stirrings of the Dominion War and allows players to take command of five unique factions, the United Federation of Planets, the Klingon Empire, the Romulan Star Empire, the Cardassian Union/Dominion Alliance, and the Borg Collective. Explore strange new worlds, seek out new life and new civilizations, and boldly go where no one has gone before.
The B'rel-class Bird of Prey is one of the most well-known vessels in the Quadrant. Introduced in the 2280s as the Klingon Empire's new fast attack ship, the B'rel gradually replaced the K'tinga as the most common ship in the Klingon fleet. This marked a change in the KDF's overarching approach to warfare, moving away from large, powerful cruisers with long-range heavy weapons systems, and embracing smaller, faster, more agile designs designed to swoop in, disruptors blazing and engaging the enemy in fast-paced, frenetic combat.
Today the KDF takes a more balanced approach, with more cruisers than ever before, but the B'rel is still by far the most common ship in the Klingon fleet. It is also the most popular posting for Klingon warriors addicted to the thrills and promises of glory that come with serving on an attack ship designed exclusively for engaging the enemy at point-blank range.
Like the K'tinga, the B'rel is an old warship but shows no signs of being outmoded. With constant upgrades over the decades the B'rel has consistently been equipped with the finest weapons in the fleet. These potent warships serve as the Empire's first line of defence, patrolling the frontier endlessly but refusing to settle into complacency. A B'rel's crew is always ready to go into battle at an instant's notice.
Now, facing open war with the Dominion, the B'rel will be tested like never before. The Jem'Hadar are worthy enemies, fearless and brutal. The Bird of Prey will not fail in this glorious hour.
It had to be done.
Honor to ya mate
I did not know I needed this in my life until today.
I remember the first time I saw this ship, years ago when I watched The Search For Spock. Then I saw Voyage Home and once again here was this awesome ship taking center stage. Before that whenever I thought of Star Trek I though of the Enterprise. From that point on, the Enterprise didn't matter anymore. The Bird of Prey became my favorite ship in Star Trek. Deadly, fast, and just downright good looking.
