Spirit of Half-Life (SoHL) is a modified game engine for Half-Life 1 modders that includes many new things not seen in the original Half-Life engine by Valve. This includes reflections, mirrors better lighting, weather like moving clouds, rain, snow, and fog. Physics capabilities like picking up objects and dropping them, or when some thing explodes objects go flying off in the direction.

Hey guys, don't cry if something doesn't work! The guy behind this put alot of work into this and you have to respect that. If something doesn't work, learn to code and code it.

Here's a question: HOW DO YOU INSTALL SPIRIT OF HALF-LIFE?
I cant find out anywhere, and I've already tried a number of ways to get it to work from simple to complicated.

Same (?) problem as openmaw, env_sky doesn't render models/monsters for me in any version above 1.4. Brush world/entity are fine.
Is there a changelog somewhere to find out what features I would have to backport if I choose to rebase my mod on Spirit 1.4?

Why don't things like the utskydemo or the reflective floors stop working after version 1.4? They don't work in 1.5a4 at all. Why is that?

map errors:
I've heard of this spirit engine for some time and have recently got around to trying to create a mod with it (The Trap & Prison mods furthered my inspiration). So once I set up all of the files in hammer and started mapping things went well for a while but then I started to hit an unexpected error. This seems to happen when I compile the map enough times (kind of have to in order to test and fix things) I open my map and it only loads for a split second before crashing to desktop with the following error message. Expression:_CrtIsValidHeapPointer(pUserData). Loading the map again will do nothing. In order to fix this I'll have to load a different map entirely, then load my map. But this doesn't end frustration, after this my map has been slightly altered, some entities may be gone or changed, and I'll need to re-implement them. And finally after much wasted time my map runs as it should. Spirit has some nice features and I'd love to map with it but this error is a huge roadblock. I have no clue what is causing it, I've never seen this error while mapping with opposing force & sven coop.

P.S. has anyone else experienced this issue? cuz I haven't found anything on this for Spirit of Half-Life.
