Rise of the Reds – or ROTR for short – improves upon the C&C Generals formula while also adding its own distinct elements to it. Most notably, the mod adds two completely new factions, the tank-heavy Russian Federation and the defence-oriented European Continental Alliance. In addition, the three original factions China, USA and GLA have been greatly expanded and redesigned in a variety of ways, with several new units, buildings, powers and abilities to explore and combine in your in-game tactics.

Evil how? More evil than poking a hole through a guy's stomach with a fast moving metal shard and leaving him to slowly die? More evil than blowing his legs off?

Inasmuch as all weapons are evil, yes. But not more evil than others.

Don't know. I never been cooked to death or bled to death. I do think that people would rather bleed to death than be microwaved alive though.

Wotan is the ANGLO-SAXON name, the actual NORWEGIAN name for this God is ODIN, or more accurately Óðinn.

I was kind of going to say the same thing. It is a nitpick, but if it is a norwegian product, it should not be called a name unrelated to Norway.

The unit, along with its name, role and design was actually conceived before we decided to make it Norwegian and before we had our Norwegian voice actor. It's always easy to spot such minor oversights in hindsight.

I figure in game it would only occur to me once or twice anyway and this mod is truly amazing in its scale so that small oversights like this can't be avoided. But that's what rabid hordes of nitpicky fans are for.

The beam's intensity can be set to 'focussed' or 'spread'- That the only thing i need to know about this unit. :)

But the only thing i'm worried is how much this will cost...

You guys may want to double-check your facts here. IIRC EM radiation affects electronics, but has no effect on anything else. You are looking for EHF waves, or higher-frequency microwaves.

would be neat if it could also intercept enemy missiles like an avenger. so it could either attack aircrafts or missiles, depending on the situation. setting the beam to spread to attack air vehicles doesn't sound too promising.

Description

The Wotan is a revolutionary anti-air weapon system of Norwegian origin. Its armament is a microwave projector which is capable of firing an extremely intense beam of EM radiation at a target. Due to the intricacies of the weapon control systems, the limited depression of the beam projector and 'humanitarian' concerns, the 'heat ray' can only be fired at airborne targets, making the Wotan the heavy anti-air weapon of choice for the Scandinavian militaries and the ECA. The beam's intensity can be set to 'focussed' or 'spread', allowing the Wotan to defeat individual aircraft with all available firepower or damage an entire swarm of packed targets at the same time. Thanks to the physical attributes of a directed energy weapon, the Wotan's attack has long range and suffers no delay before it strikes the target. An enemy pilot caught within range of a Wotan is essentially doomed to combust, either from being cooked to death by the microwave beam or by the premature ignition of his fuel and weaponry - whichever happens first.
