Rise of the Reds – or ROTR for short – improves upon the C&C Generals formula while also adding its own distinct elements to it. Most notably, the mod adds two completely new factions, the tank-heavy Russian Federation and the defence-oriented European Continental Alliance. In addition, the three original factions China, USA and GLA have been greatly expanded and redesigned in a variety of ways, with several new units, buildings, powers and abilities to explore and combine in your in-game tactics.

The model itself is a GLA unit from our other mod Shockwave (https://www.moddb.com/mods/cc-shockwave). =P So is the T-64.

The missile will probably not pop-up as we tried this in internal betas in SW, and that half second delay for it to pop-up made it much less useful. So it'll prolly be up the whole time.

I knew it BRDM-1 from SW, or is it BRDM-2???

It's a BRDM-1, although this will have had the heck modernised out of it sixty years later and isn't the same as ShockWave's. BRDM-2s have a turreted machinegun and carry infantry. Or would were they in RotR, which they aren't.

It's okay for this even it's from Shockwave. Hope it's firepower is different from SW.

No details are confirmed. At all. All that is currently known is that the BRDM will not fulfil the same role as in ShockWave.

This unit is guaranteed to function much differently than you have come to know it from ShockWave. It serves a completely different function, so it's certain to play in a way much removed from its other iteration.

No release date set, nor will there be. It's simply SWR policy. 'It'll be out when it's out' is the only response you'll get, I'm afraid.

It's dropped via a general power for all generals called "Armored Reserves".

I believe General Orlov will not have this power, instead using his own air-dropped reinforcements. Other than that it is for all Russian generals.

Just a correction here - what I said wasn't right, Armoured Reserves will be for all Russian generals.

it should be for all russian generals but will it replace the reinforcement power or seperate(i mean the bmd's and the vdv infantry) or that power will be only for the Vrussia?

Reply Good karma Bad karma+1 vote
CommanderJRB
CommanderJRB - - 754 comments

There will be no vanilla Russia when Generals arrive, and also, scratch what I said earlier - the Armoured Reserves power will be for all three Russian Generals, including Orlov. The current VDV Airborne power will be in a different tree.

Tree?What Tree?Like a tech tree??and no vanilla sides?

Reply Good karma Bad karma+1 vote
CommanderJRB
CommanderJRB - - 754 comments

By 'tree' I meant a different column of powers - that is, you'll have the Armoured Reserves in one spot on the panel, and the VDV Airborne series in another, so one doesn't go over the top of the other.

NergiZed Author

there are no vanilla sides because we can only have a total of 15 unique sets of AI and thus only 15 factions. So there's 3 generals for each of the 5 factions - 15 total factions.

Not unless you install the game twice to different locations on the same computer and muck around with shortcuts, no. The differing version installations are guaranteed to interfere with each other if you try and run them both from the same directory concurrently.

Yeah, it's the same model (the T-64 is in SW as well). SW and RotR are sister-mods, and will share small amounts of content. (like with the Spectre gunship, and the BM-21 Grad, which has the same chassis as the Katyusha in SW). Don't sorry though, I don't think there's more than 10 units that are being shared between the two mods; a grand majority of the content will be unique.

considering the americans using coldfusion-reactors while the russians still have to use that outdated brdm-1 seems quite offensive to me...russia nowadays even ain´t using the brdm-2 because they are outdated. so what about #1?!

The story behind the BRDM-1, if you would care to read the information, is that they have indeed been retired from front-line service as of a long while ago. However, Russia, with its famous policy of virtually never throwing anything away, has stored the BRDM-1s away in storage garages where they've gathered dust for a few decades. Upon the conflict with the ECA, these armoured reserves were then reactivated, given a lick of paint, and sent to the battlefield as what amounts to little more than highly mobile cannon fodder, with some anti-infantry and anti-light vehicle function.
In other words they're not a part of the regular army, just long-disused reserves that have been brought back in time of need. Just like Russia does in real life, actually.

sorry guys, i actually don't want to take my part in tetrapilotomia. but theese vehicles are really outdated. just a suggestion: why not replace it with the kizantema? you have already coded the bmp3-chassis, so there would be no great deal to give it a missie-launcher?

the story behide the reason for they use make it more fun. IMO
plus they arent here to fight a army. they just here to go LOOK AT ME! BLOW ME UP! and to give inf a little armor protetion.

It might surprise you to learn that when Russia countered Georgia's invasion of South Ossetia last year, a battery of field guns was photographed the design of which dated from the Second World War. They really don't throw anything away, you know.
Khrizantema is much more limited in scope than a fast scout vehicle such as the BRDM-1, and acts very differently to how this does in-game. The Rise of the Reds universe is not the real-life universe, and this is simply an artistic choice of the team to add diversity to the Russian side.

The BRDM-1's design made it more suitable for amphibious operations than its successor, the BRDM-2, and it's a great ATGM platform...

Description

This amphibious scout vehicle is also used by the Federation in the same manner as the T-64s. They are capable in art of harassing the enemy and are speedy when compared to other Russian vehicles. They are not made to take out targets in their own but with rather support from other units or when used in larger numbers together.
