Rise of the Reds – or ROTR for short – improves upon the C&C Generals formula while also adding its own distinct elements to it. Most notably, the mod adds two completely new factions, the tank-heavy Russian Federation and the defence-oriented European Continental Alliance. In addition, the three original factions China, USA and GLA have been greatly expanded and redesigned in a variety of ways, with several new units, buildings, powers and abilities to explore and combine in your in-game tactics.

No, they're an entirely new type of infantry for all GLA Generals. They act as a combination of sniper and ranged stealth detector.

I really like the concept of snipers with very outdated weapons but much better skills.

(buried)

Just a suggestion: I think the partisans, even though they're snipers, shouldn't be cloaked like pathfinders, or else their detection receivers will be useless. Why would I want to deploy such a receiver if I could just deploy a soldier there that can do the same, and plus kill enemies?

That being said, the partisan definitely should have much more range that your average soldier. I'd perhaps even argue as much range as Jaeger's sniper rifle.

Is it just me dose the third pose(the on where they are holding their gun over their head) for the Partisan remind anyone else of the Sand People from Star Wars?

Guess they're trying to keep the thing as far away from the stuff as possible. :p

So these guys merely joined the GLA to get access to some additional equipment but their true allegiance lies with their homeland. Pretty noble if you ask me. Though its not so different than the Americans helping the Afghan Mujaheeden to drive the commies out of their country...

Would be embarrassing to have US Pathfinders getting outsniped by these guys though lol.

"Skill always beats luck." <-- this needs to be one of their quotes.

Assuming it could be conditioned to only happen when ordering to attack other snipers/units with known optics(hint, hint) without too much trouble, a little "Ah, there you are," would be fun to have. A tiny touch of Hayha to go with the rifle.

Not exactly embarrassing. Many of these dudes in RL probably have been shooting since they can walk and know how to conserve ammo. So not surprising if they are deadly shots.

The Partisans -are- sniper-type units in spirit. It'd be boring to have the same character archetypes for all factions. Instead, Pathfinders vs. Partisans would allow you to play out a clash of warrior philosophies: On the one hand, you've got elite USMC Scout Snipers with high-tech weaponry and elite training on a mission that may or may not be reasonable. On the other hand, you've got seasoned, cynical but nonetheless passionate men who wanted to live a peaceful life in a homeland that was ravaged by perpetual warfare, where only the strong survived, who picked up the dated, ancestral weapons of their forefathers to protect their land against foreign invaders by virtue of sheer skill.

Giving the GLA some generic sniper with a ghillie suit and a teched out SVD who spouts some cliché lines about professionalism and 'one shot one kill' would seem boring by comparison^^

they are, most definetly, the gla snipers.
and they are fit for it, it really suits gla to have those, especialy considering jarmen kell already is stealth.

Then how can we reconsider GLA as Sneaky when they got only one type of Sneaky unit when Saboters arent aveileble and even wohnt have some kind of attack to defend/kill ???

Reply Good karma Bad karma+1 vote

They are sneaky because they have an upgrade that renders all of their standard infantry units invisible, because they can use GPS Scramblers to conceal as many buildings and vehicles as they like and because their mobility allows them to move across the entire map like no other faction. The Saboteur was removed because that kind of technical subversion didn't really suit them that well; the GLA is about using sneaky tactics to destroy and kill things, not turn off a building for ten seconds.

And to further that point, Jarmen Kell is a mercenary, so maybe he was once a partisan himself, a man who essentially had his homeland destroyed, so he gave up fighting for his home and country and is more of now just in it for the money, taking his years worth of skill to earn him hard cash, having gotten a higher power sniper rifle and other equipment to boot...

Makes me think where his origins are actually. Black Lotus I am guessing is just an umbrella term for an electronic special forces agent in the PRC, and Col.Burton has a bit of background on him already, as does Frank Jaegar and Boris. (Frank is a partisan/resistance guy and a former hunter/paratrooper and Boris is basically a heroic footman in the Russian army, famous for assaults in Germany.)

Since you brought that up, we should have a feature like "Meet the Heroes" where the back stories of all the faction heroes are shown. like old rivalries between Kell and Burton or a mexican standoff between boris, jaeger and lotus

Description

Whether they lived in the deserts of North Africa, the war-torn cities of the Middle East or the mountains of Afghanistan - These veteran insurgents have fought against the global superpowers and their allies in the defence of their ancestral homelands for decades even prior to the appearance of the GLA in 2019. Throughout the entire war and its aftermath, the Global Liberation Army consisted of a solid nucleus of highly organised cells that shifted their operations around the world, supported by an innumerable mass of local volunteers, tribal groups and strongman militia that rotated in and out of the GLA's ranks as required. Partisans are indomitable fighters who are familiar with the terrain and thus capable to move swiftly and covertly. Their weaponry usually consists of obsolete bolt-action rifles that have been passed down their families for generations, including the venerable British Lee-Enfield, the Russian Mosin-Nagant or the German-made Karabiner 98k. Having honed their marksmanship from the first day they could hold a firearm, the Partisans can still score impressive long-range shots with these dated weapons despite their lack of modern optics. Their sole piece of halfway modern technology is a modified military-grade radio receiver which, upon deployment, allows the Partisans to tap into hostile communications to detect enemies at long range.
