Rise of the Reds – or ROTR for short – improves upon the C&C Generals formula while also adding its own distinct elements to it. Most notably, the mod adds two completely new factions, the tank-heavy Russian Federation and the defence-oriented European Continental Alliance. In addition, the three original factions China, USA and GLA have been greatly expanded and redesigned in a variety of ways, with several new units, buildings, powers and abilities to explore and combine in your in-game tactics.
The MiG-15 and MiG-17 were among the most produced combat aircraft in the world since WWII, with over 20,000 air-frames of both types produced by the USSR, China, Poland, and Czechoslovakia. Highly advanced for their time, the MiG-15 and MiG-17 were commonly exported and saw heavy use in the First Korean and Vietnam wars. Some variants stayed in use up until the 2010s with North Korea, Pakistan, and some African nations. With a large number of aircraft scattered around the world it was inevitable that the GLA would manage to acquire some for their own air force. Though immeasurably obsolete as a fighter aircraft, the Vulture (as the GLA refers to it) is employed as a tactical bomber by the terrorist organization. It is almost always seen with 250kg high-explosive bombs and is usually reserved for larger scale combat operations.
So, will we happen to be able to outfit it with some more dastardly payloads, or is it a tech airfield plane?
the Interceptors no longer get customizable weapons since the implementation of that was rather confusing and gimmicky at best.
Instead we opted for something a bit simpler so that now you have a bomber aircraft and fighter jet like most other factions do have as well.
So, nothing to throw at people but FAB-250s, then? Not that I'm complaining. Still more than the old GLA could drop on a single target.
will love to build a horde of these and go bomb the russians. FOR THE GLA!!!!
I think the GLA air strip only supports two aircraft at max so spamming with them will be quite hard xP
2 things...due to the change in the interceptor, will this mean it only gets the ability to equip guided missiles, or will it only use rocket pods? Furthermore, since the GLA now have 2 jets and 2 helicopters, will this mean the GLA can build multiple airfields?
That's from the last update btw.
Is this aircraft can be produce from the GLA airstrips or it's more of ability of air strike from General Points?
They are buildable from GLA Airstrips
This MIG reminds me of the first C&C Generals trailer where the GLA used that plane in the video.
"Migs on the way"
Our Raptors will intercep them!!
"Old... but gold!"
"Oh you must see this... it's the bomb!"
Is it the same plane as the chinese bomber?
Not even close
The Vulture is based on the MiG-15 and MiG-17. The Chinese Hellfire is based on the Chengdu J-7 which is a licence-built version of the MiG-21. You can see clear differences when you look at the shape of their wings and tail units.
Thanks for the explanation!
Oh goody, I get to make ******, Fresco's along with the mutant Fitter's.
Actually there are only 2 units: the interceptor (Su-17) and the bomber (MiG-15 or 17, not sure, but there's only one variant of unit). Sorry, I don't speak NATO :P
I assumed there would be two variations of the vulture as the description mentions two.
That's only for the lore. There will be only this model
The MiG-17 was basically an upgrade to the MiG-15 and they are so alike that depicting them as variants in-game would be pointless. The render description only refers to both of these as a way of illustrating just how many of these things were made and exported, hence why the GLA is still capable of operating them despite almost being a century old. It's a dirt-cheap, simple-tech aircraft with plenty of spare parts and airframes still available to them.
Now dis rite 'ere is a propa fighta bomba >:D Could've used some moar red paint tho...
