Rise of the Reds – or ROTR for short – improves upon the C&C Generals formula while also adding its own distinct elements to it. Most notably, the mod adds two completely new factions, the tank-heavy Russian Federation and the defence-oriented European Continental Alliance. In addition, the three original factions China, USA and GLA have been greatly expanded and redesigned in a variety of ways, with several new units, buildings, powers and abilities to explore and combine in your in-game tactics.

Does this gunship perform similar to mi-24 hinds to attack ground vehicles and aircrafts? I don't know if there will be new Chinese helcopitor gunship that would perform similar to other faction that have a helcop it or gun that can attack ground vehicle and a enemy gunship or aircraft. If not thenough that is wise list for the dream. Other wise, great job on this content for the gla.

So, is this the end of the Gazelle? Or just an extension of existing GLAir assets?

I was under the impression that this is stronger but less maneuverable than the Gazelle, so they can probably co-exist.

The Hook is far, far less maneuverable than the Gazelle. It'll still have a role as a cheap, spammable harassment heli.

Cool idea, I like it.

(I was thinking the other day that the GLA should get some form of sniper tank that does high damage and long range but has a lengthy reload time???)

((Bridging off of that, the Russian armour reserves could perhaps integrate the ASU-85 tank as a more "historically accurate" [even though this is largely a fictitious project] airdrop? Plus it looks unique..?))

Good progress though, cant wait for next patch.

The ASU-85 sounds like a decent idea.It could with the VDV Paradrop where it would it fit nicely. And as Martinoz said the GLA already has the Rocket Buggy they don´t need any other OP artillery type unit.

Well, it could replace the buggy for some GLA general, that would be quite interesting to see, and they could re-use the BDRM-1 to replace the buggy for some other GLA general aswell, and the BDRM-1 is amphibious, which is great for GLA ambushes.

Seems it is going to be some kind of "glass cannon": a f#*kton of firepower, but paper armor with speed of snail.

Dunno, it's very fast for its size IRL. Damn, I remember how awesome and loud it was, when I saw it's landing not far from my grandfather's house.

Well, this version doesn't seem to posses any extra armor, just weapons, lots of extra weapons, and the Real one could also be equipped with weapons, in a similar fasion to the MI-8.
By the way, i wonder if we might see the MI-8 making a return Deathstrike's arsenal from Shockwave...
Afterall, the MI-8 is far more practical and low profile for GLA then an MI-6, so i wonder if we will see both on 2.0, but for different GLA generals, the MI-8 might be in the same position as the BTR right now, it is not in the currently released version because it would be redundant right now, but will be present on the final version once the units of the factions become split into different generals, it would be cool to see the 3 helicopters(Gazelle, MI-6, MI-8), i wonder if the old GLA "orkish" interceptor will make a come back as some makeshift suicide plane, maybe a replacement/variation for that GLA special power of the suicide planes, as a jet/rocket plane breaking through the enemy AAs and flying over the enemy base waiting for a good target would make more sense then some propeller planes, just an idea, although i would prefer a buildable one, maybe for the GLA Terror Cell general?

By the way, this idea kind of reminded me of this...

Would be interesting to see some GLA Okha inspired Anti-ship / Anti-building / Anti any non-aerial thing unit, what do you SWR think of that?

This is marvellous, i've been wanting to see those on this mod for years, now GLA has an even greater mobility on the battlefield, awesome work SWR, i wish the gunship role had been left to a Hind-A, but whatever, this one is great.

Description

Reports have indicated that the GLA have modified a number of their Mi-6 Hook airframes to serve as transport gunships similar in function to the famous Mi-24 Hind. A variety of anti-tank missiles and rockets of former Soviet and Chinese origin have been mounted on pylons under the helicopter's wings and auto cannons are mounted on each side of the fuselage near the fore. The jury-rigged conversion has a significant negative effect on the helicopter's manoeuvrability and acceleration, but its firepower is very considerable and it retains a degree of transport capability. Extreme caution is advised when encountering any of these modified helicopters.
