I notice that you're showcasing us giving you a big head, as well as some other cool stuff.

The Power to Shields effect will look pretty cool on the ships. Also will give the T2-B the ability to tank a little more fire than it did before.

The selection rings is a nifty idea. Reminds me of BfME's selection rings. (Or selectron, as I am apparently keen on typing).

Wow. That's a lot of text. For me, in a comment, anyways.

Indeed. I think that's the biggest comment you've even left me. I'm touched.

Well, you did give me a lot to comment on.

Also, this is making playing the current release of RotM really hard.

Haha. Well...hang in there. There will come a time when you may discard that old version of the mod but it is not this day.

Is it just the texture on the tank or does the power-to-shields warp the visuals of the tank like heat above a road, the shimmering curtain mirage thing?

The shields now use a distortion material that uses normal map data to, yes, warp the visuals...as if you were looking through water or heat.

Oft times, it is the little things can help make or break a mod; your mod is one of the best ever made, and with your fine craftsmanship, it is easy to see why, the_Farseer!

That APC looks stunning; Sort of has a 'Borderlands' look to it.

And that distortion on the T2-B Power to Shields..........wow!

For some infantry groups would it be possible to have an ability, much the opposite of the 'take cover' one, that essentially puts the entire group into a firing line formation? Not only would that look cool (old-school firing lines were teh shizzle) but it could solve problems with infantry squads trying to fire down a hill/cliff and the guys in the back just shoot the ground in front of them.

The take cover ability only tell the units to stand farther apart. You can't actually specify a type of formation, unfortunately.

The T2-B was remade and retexured long before the T1-B. The color palette and design schemes were copied from the original T2-B texture photoshop file. I think the difference you are seeing is that the T2-B has way more teamcolorable area on the texture. Other than that, the art styles are actually the same.

Your power-to-shield effect looks amazing. I love the distortion and often use it in particle effects.
I wonder what shader you used in Max and if it could be used for (transparent) windows on a model.

It's the heat shader. I had to have somebody fix the skinnable heat shader though because for some reason it outputs to "normals" rather than "heat." So as it goes for you, this affect isn't available unless you edit the shaders. When RotM v5 is released, feel free to just grab that fixed version from the mod files however.

Is the new effect for the power-to-shield's ability apart of the T2B's model/texture or is it a separate effect that can be used on any other unit, including space units?

Description

The details are where it counts and I always try to pay attention to even the smallest things. This is just an example of that (I hope).

Top row: Showcasing the T1-APC in game engine, with load/unload and idle animations.

Bottom left: Showcasing the new "Power-to-Shields" effect and the addition of that ability to the T2-B Tank.

Bottom right: Showcasing new infantry squad selection overlay. Subtler than a giant neon ring, I was hoping that this new approach to squad selection would make it easier for players to immediately gauge a squad's strength by encircling each unit in the squad, individually. I personally like this type of selection better as it is applied in most other, modern, RTS games.

CENTER: Showcasing a freaking kick-ass community!! This is the highest rank I have ever held on Moddb and I owe every bit of it to you guys, for following my work and making it relevant. Seriously, I can't thank each of you enough!
