Ricochet is an old Half-Life1 based game by Valve Software. I loved this game, and decided to port it to Source [the engine Half-Life 2 uses]. We hope you will watch this site and the mod, so enjoy yourself and once again welcome to Ricochet Reborn. Now lets basicly outline how the mod will stay true to Ricochet while expanding upon it [much like how the great Team Fortress mod in development Fortress Forever for Source stays true to TF yet expands on it].Next, I explain how Ricochet works.
Ricochet is fairly simple. You run around in a First peron view[however i have just read that it was third person while looking for screenshots of the original game, which I could not find any of good size; whenever I have played it was in first person,or was having so much fun I wasnt paying attention; please tell em what the correct one is] and you try to score by killing or knocking your opponents into an abyss with with discs that you throw that are similar to the ones seen in Tron. You have three of these discs, and all can be in the air at the same time, and all will always came back to you like a boomerang would. If you have all 3 normal discs, then you can launch a decapatator disc that will instantly decapitate an opponent. There are two types of matches, Arena and Deathmatch. Deathmatch is a free for all, ass you almost surely alreay knew. Arena is mano-e-mano [one-on-one] deathmatch, in which after five rounda with one opponent,you are switched to another one;up to 16 different one-on-one matches could be happening on the same server at the same time. Matches are just about always extremly fast paced. That is essentialy the basics of Ricochet.
Ricochet Reborn plans to expand on this. First and this is probably the first thing to come to mind, is obviously shiny new graphics and physics [THE GRAVITY GUN WILL NOT BE IN THE MOD, NO IF'S, AND'S, OR BUT'S.] The second thing that Ricochet Reborn will expand on is on gameplay. For instance, in the original Ricochet, the maps [there were three of them, 2 for deathmatch and one for Arena] were floating platforms in space that had jumpads on them to get from one pad to another, with teleporters and barriers for more complicated shots. We will reproduce the three originals. We will also make more maps like them. However, we will also make maps that have different settings, and some ight not have the abyss and the like but will still be fun. We will also of course make it possible for players to make their own models and maps and such.
