You can see that all units are unlockable from the outset. Obviously each unit will have different costs for unlocking. But this approach will give you a lot more freedom of choice to tailor to your playing style. The six greyed out icons beside each unit are unit upgrades. So, once a unit is unlocked, you have 6 choices (independent of each other, i.e., you don't have to research each choice sequentially. You can pick any of the 6 choices at any time) to buff that unit, for example, increased hp, shields, damage, speed, sight, cost, etc. Not all the same upgrades will be found for all units, though.

The big blank space to the right is reserved for the Revamp units. The alpha testing will be with just the default SC2 units. The Revamp units will come later.

You will also notice 3 Seraphim icons. This is just for visuals right now. How Seraphim will be integrated is yet to be determined. This is just a placeholder showing that Seraphim units will be in the mod.

At the bottom of the research tree pic you see a bunch of stars. Those are class upgrades for the different types of buffs. Upgrading these will affect all units.

heloooo

I am just curious how the promotion and rank of the unit is implanted, will be the opportunity to create some legendary unit on the basis of experience in combat and killing other units.

Greetings

I say it's pretty good, I really like the idea of a bonus mod mode along with the regular version. If you have time after finishing the portal wars mode, may I suggest doing a "Last Stand" type of mode like in the DOW II series? Just a suggestion though, no need to do any extra work because of it.

Yeah, we can look into this. We could create a customized levelling system for the ACUs and just use the infinite war settings and have everyone allied. I'm pretty sure that we can have the game spawn neutral portals and waves of enemies. Once we get the main portion of the portal wars minimod working, adapting it to the last stand shouldn't be difficult. It would be an easy fork in the project.

Would be good to highlight the part of the icons that get upgraded in red. Like if the damage increases from an upgrade, then highlight the guns etc. Instead of having them all look the same :)

That's an interesting suggestion. I'll definitely consider it, but keep in mind how many icons for land, air, naval, structures, and acu and for cybran, uef, and illuminate would have to be touched up!!! Due to the sheer amount of work, at least for the time being the icons will stay like they are. But there are popup windows when you mouse over each icon. So you will still know what each upgrade is.

BTW, how does this and the "portals" relate to the "warp pillars" you worked on not long ago?

I'm not quite sure what OverRated plans to do with the "warp" pillars. I think they might provide teleportation around the map, but don't quote me on this. It's my impression that he'll incorporate them into the Revamp mod, but as to their exact function, I'm not completely sure.

Take a look at the news on the front page. I provided some history behind Portal Wars. The "Seraphim" units will actually be some completely new units based on the "Shedim" race I created. Some ship designs we're using for concept art for the Shedim are:

Img85.imageshack.us

Img716.imageshack.us

Images.wikia.com

The first link is from the tv series Andromeda. The second link is a Vulcan ship from Star Trek. And the third link is the Protoss ship from StarCraft 2. They wont be replicated exactly, and will have some Seraphim influence. The designs will also be influenced by the UEF, Cybran, and Illuminate. I'm just using the Seraphim logo as a placeholder for the time-being.

dudes, warp pillars replace gantries, the idea is that they teleport pre-built XP units over from othe rplanets, pre-built and stored. the main idea for making ti was beacuse the fatboy and CZAR are too big for gantries, methinks.
