Republic at War is a total conversion modification for Star Wars Empire at War Forces of Corruption. The mod replaces the Empire with the Galactic Republic and the Rebel Alliance with the Confederacy. Republic at War focuses heavily on the theatrical films but also contains content from the Clone Wars cartoon series as well as the expanded universe. Players can re-enact various Clone War campaigns such as the Outer Rim Sieges. Players will have the choice to fight as either the CIS or the Republic and wage war for control of the galaxy. Realism is key and players will have unprecedented control over how and where they fight. Push forward with an entire clone legion such as the 501st or 212th or overwhelm your opponent with a seemingly endless number of B1 battledroids. The choice is yours. There are also a number of expansions planned that will add new (as well as polish existing) content.

Question: Have you guys been able to balance Galactic Conquest? I always enjoy taking my time and always lose to the AI even on easy.

First off, there seems to be a segment of time (around 10-15 galactic days) where the AI hold off attacking. If you are republic, grind research on a planet and send Palpatine around the core worlds building up space stations (and planetary turbo lasers when they are researched, they are so go.) for each planet, have a barracks, a light factory, and a squad of hover tanks. At the start of the battle, form a perimeter around the landing zone and build up turrets if you are defending a frontline planet. (So good to place anti-infantry turrets next to landing zone and melting them at the start) then rush the zone and cap it, ending the battle. Then once you hit max tech, start building a force of the mandator, 20 venators, 20 victory 1s, and use corvettes to get hyperspace coordinates at the start of battles. Take out their southern sector with Geinosis and Hypori, and proceed to destroy every capital shipyard planet they have.

The AI only holds still for 15 days if you play on easy difficulty, but I agree with the overall defense strategy.
When playing the Republic the early game is especially difficult because the CIS has an advantage in military overall strength AND in space battles at that time. In early game as Republic it is better to just defend the most important planets in space (like Kuat, Corellia, Coruscant, Bespin and Kamino). All others should be at first defended on the ground as the Republic has superior quality ground forces. Especially once you reach Tech level 2 and can recruit Saber tanks.
If playing the CIS however late-mid game and late game can become a huge pain when the Republic AI starts to spam massive fleets including primarily Venators and Victory Star Destroyers in combination.
Venators alone are a pain in the *** to fight if you haven't enough Providences and/or Bulwarks, but Venators supported by Victorys are outright cruel.
Sometimes in late game the Republic AI gets even more nasty by supporting their Venator/Victory-fleets with Imperator-class Star Destroyers as in contrast to a human player the AI can not only build Imperators, they also have no build limit on them.

i find the Ai amazing. wonderful actually fighting a Ai that you know? doesnt just roll over and die.

id rather get attacked everyday on multiple fronts then sit there and wait for 50 weeks before a attack happens (and uterly fail due to crappy AI)
