with this piece of art, you have proven to be the best modder (imo) for HW 2. Congrats!

Thanks, I didn't know a man can become the best modder by making the subsystems, but thanks.

Lol, what I was trying to tell you is, that many people told me that it would be impossible to make a subsystem with "real" animations (more than some blinky), but you did that, so I assume that you are a very well modder, and (imo) the best one (releated to the content you supplied us until now;)

This is a standard Hiigaran defense field, so no it doesn't.

That is pretty slick Pouk. Very nice. I just can't figure out how you did it... and it's driving me nuts. I'm guessing the Def Field Module is actually there on the model even when you don't have it built, but it's invisible, and unusable until you do build the subsystem? But that still leaves a few complications, so I don't know how you did it. But it's awesome... even if it has one flaw (I'm surprised no-one else saw it)

Yes, that's how it works, part of the module is hidden in the destroyer from the beginning. It's further described in the "Destroyer Update 5" picture comments.
And it has more than one flaw, models are intersecting each other etc., but in general it does the needed effect and it's certainly better than nothing.

That'd be cool if it was possible.

This video doesn't exist, because as we all know the subsystem animations are absolutely impossible...

Well, to be honest they truly are, I don't know how to make a subsystem animation and this is actually not a subsystem animation, it's a cheap and easy trick to make it look like a subsystem animation. But who cares, because it does look like a subsystem animation and that's all that matters. What you'll see in game is that you build the module, you activate the defense field and your module moves, even it's not what's happening.

Also this is the most useless work in history of Homeworld, no one will ever build this subsystem anyway, it requires the defense field frigate research and who's got a time for that.

So you hungry and never satisfied beasts, this is probably the best I can give you. :) It has to be enough this time, because due to some limitation it really can’t be much better. And yes, it will be on the bottom of the ship, other locations are out of the question now.
