Don't forget to set the Unit Caps to Low or Very Low, otherwise it will be much more intense than you (and your PC) need. :)

Quite honestly, this looks amazing!
My PC would probably crap itself (gaah! Can I say kadeshi swarm?) but it looks really impressive with all the ships all over the place.
It shouldn't be that bad, but I won't know for sure until I'll try it on a weaker machine.
Kadeshi High Command swarm isn't done yet, I'll need to find a best formation for them and of course to see if the game have no problems with that high number of units.
With swarmers without LODs I get lag with a full 30 squadrons active (max a kad player can have in my mod). I assume with lods and no other annoying map objects getting in the way you can handle 60-90+ squadrons at once. Above that, I think the engine will begin running into trouble.
And what about swarmers with my LODs, did you try them? How they affect the FPS on your machine?
Yep, they really do help.
The real issue is FX though. I have quite a few FX which don't have lods, especially when everything is shooting all over the place and blowing up. They seem to lag more than all my models do together - even w.o. lods.
I'm glad the LODs help, but I started to thing about fifth LOD level anyway, just beacuse of the High Command swarms.
But FX, interesting. I remember you were talking about it, but I'm still not sure what exactly do you mean. Muzzle flashes? I'm not even sure if I have your muzzle flashes, my swarmers have blue fire, similar or the same as progenitor drones. I had to reconstruct most of the weapon details as weaponfire files because I didn't have yours, so even if it would have similar effect, it's likely not your file, so it should be fine, shouldn't it?
I'm using 3 LODs at the moment but may go up to 4, the 4th just being a white blob that vaguely resembles a swarmer, maybe 20 polies or less if I can manage. at that distance you can't see anything anyways.
Yeah, the original FX is fine.
The issue is not the swarmers per se but rather capital ship guns (flak warhead detonation fx) and missiles (fx with debris flying around + EMP effect).
Without LODs this causes an extreme ammount of lag.
I had a similar problem with the basic swarmer gun FX (hddread weaponfire). I replaced the 'plasma burn' fx that it normally has on hit with the generic impact that the other races tracers use. It got extreme with 20 swarmer squadrons firing at a capital ship. The game basically just got stuck, all the blue glows eating up GPU resources like mad.
