Wars of the Firstborn is a modification based on the discontinued Ridder Clan Mod for The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-Earth II and for The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-Earth II - The Rise of the Witch-King expansion, which focuses on bringing to life as much of the Elven world from Tolkien’s epic as possible.

Hello strangers from distant lands and friends of old,

"I come with tidings in this dark hour… and with counsel." It has been some time since an update to the mod has been made however that does not mean that progress has not been made to it. I'm delighted to announce that "the team" has been extended with both members (notably and several contributors (and contributions).

From the get-go I want to announce you that preparations are in works towards a very big announcement somewhere in December and for that matter the updates on the page will be scarce (so basically as it was until now). This is due to that we plan to change some things about the mod so... looking foreword to it. And after the announcement, we will never know how it will progress.

Also I made a discord server for fans and other enthusiasts of the mod so that we can talk more freely and it seems it did took flight (at least a bit). On the same note, 2 other discord servers were released related to the BFME Community and modding.

I wanted to get out of the way for the real reason why this update is made, and that is our special made Legolas! Legolas is a central hero of the Wood elven faction and also a beloved character, for that reason we pay attention to details on how we can flesh out the best of him. The focus of this update is his animations sets which you can preview below. The aim was to add to him a fully workable cape animation, revamping his sword animations to better reflect his character (and the movies) and added new ones so that he can have a fully functional toggle.

You can probably observe that there are some animations that were inspired by another popular LOTR game, The Return of the King. The others were choreographed by me on how Legolas would move. All the new animations you see were made by NewErr (me) using motion capture from a Kinect, made from scratch based on video references (some based on my motion) and blends with the vanilla animations (specially on the animation set with the bow). I hope that you agree that these animations fit better Legolas.

Hopefully you liked this update and if you want to talk more about it or other mod related stuff you can join your Discord server by clicking the icon below!
