EDIT: Is it me or does the "Keep Private and Don't Put on the ModDB Main Page" checkbox not work?

So I've had numerous false starts with 1-3 as I keep re-designing the submarine. I have the concept down and a rough idea of what to do, but I'm trying to strike the right balance between simplicity and complexity. Let me explain:

The floorplan of a submarine... isn't very complicated in real-life. Since space is at such a premium underwater, everything is crammed into small claustrophobic narrow hallways.

An interesting exploration-type level though, is supposed to be complicated. Open floor plans allow different combinations of interactions, and more rooms = better.

Now, I'm trying to reconcile all these goals - have it "feel" like a claustrophobic submarine, yet make it complex enough to explore, yet keep it simple / elegant enough to learn quickly... YET straightforward enough for an NPC to wander freely and surprise the player. I've probably thrown out 4-5 different submarine floorplans after testing them in-game and deciding they're not what I want because they don't accomplish one or more of these goals.

So while I draw up another floorplan, I'm trying to work on stuff I know I'll definitely use no matter what, and I won't throw out. Since ModDB requires me to include an image with a news post... well, here it goes - Here's how Emily Dickinson is shaping up, right about now:

you could always go John Carpenter & parent mossman's head to a fast headcrab & have it scuttle out of ductwork, terrorising the player with unconventional 19th century poetry.

floating amorphous torsos are always good though, looking forwards to this.

yeah, the submarine seems hard. You can always make it more complex with adding slightly different levels and ladders, but that's not going to do your AI any favors. Good luck with that, can't wait to see what you come up with.

Looks good so far. I'm glad you're taking your time with this tbh because it's good to see someone thinking about a mod for once and not just rushing into it. As for the mod so far i've loved it! All those homophobic comments are just from people who are plain ignorant and probably don't understand the meaning of it all. Really touched me so far so best of luck and look forward to part 3 :)

Copy and pasted from my forums: "Well, school just started for me / I got a job / I got a relationship. I'm still managing to get work done in spurts, but yeah, I'm pretty disappointed in my own progress as well."

I've decided to just go ahead and build the damn thing, and if it doesn't work then I'll deal with it later. And if it works poorly, I'll just say it's an artistic feature meant to make you question how games traditionally function. mwahahaha!
