Qreate is a small sandbox modification for the original Quake, containing new maps and its very own toolgun. Create whatever your heart desires with poseable enemies, props, and effects. Qreate is generally tested on DOSQuake to ensure it's compatible with most (if not all) source ports.

A more in-depth description from eukos:

"Qreate is a sandbox mod/extension for id software's Quake.
It allows you to spawn pretty much all the entities made
available to use when making a map, but here you can place them
in real-time.

This was a project I started in 2009 and never released due to
a hard drive failure caused by my old AMD processor getting too
hot and crashing all the time. Just earlier in the year of 2012
a build was discovered on a floppy disk. Don't ask.

It is tested on DOSQuake and QuakeSpasm.
So it's guaranteed to work on any decent Quake engine."

For playing this mod (and other info) PLEASE, see the "README" file.

NOTE: DarkPlaces users need to enter "exec binds.cfg" to be able to make use of the controls. For some reason it likes to ignore stuff that any other Quake engine reads fine.

This mod is created and maintained by Marco "eukos" Vicari and assisted by Gethyn "Xylemon" ThomasQuail.

How are you launching Quake? A batch file? A shell script? Source port or normal WinQuake?

You don't put the qreate folder into id1, you put it into the root of your Quake folder and then run quakespasm with the parameter "-game qreate"
So you will have a folder "qreate" alongside "id1"... Check README inside the zip archive.

What is Q14A?
If it's some sort of Source-Port, yes it should work.

That seems completely unnecessary, you need to edit the configuration file to your source port's needs. For example, in Quake Touch you can have external buttons, you just need to map those buttons to the impulse commands that Qreate has. These commands can be found the in "binds.cfg" file.
