I am pleased to announce that PORTALHOT is ready to download now! (Well, it had been for a couple of hours now, but when I uploaded it yesterday at 4 am in the morning I was definitely not in the mood to write blog posts.)

It was not without some drawbacks however. You probably remember how I promised 8 levels initially, only to drop it down to 6 later. I mentioned that I reserve my right to reduce the scope even further, and I unfortunately must say that I was forced to exercise that right - PORTALHOT ships with "just" 5 levels. I did manage to complete a bossfight when I said I wouldn't though, so it's not all bad news!

So, what was the reason I was forced to cut down the mod so much? Time constraints, mostly. Right now I am studying for the most important exams for my life, and even take part in the competition in my curent state required boldness (not to say recklessness) from me. I am sorry to say that I did not manage to deliver on all that I have planned to, and that I was forced to make more cuts and compromises then I would ever be comfortable with. If the later areas of the mod look somewhat rushed and ugly, this is most likely to blame. In fact, I am glad I was able to release this mod at all!

As I am writing this, there is a pile of due school essays to be written waiting for me, accumulated during my frantic development. I have barely even slept this week at all! But I don't regret taking part in this competition and making PORTALHOT, even if I find my result to be a little underwhelming. I don't know whether I am going to win anything or not since there are many other, more impressive mods and games that take part of the competition, but being a one person team making a mod during the most busy and freetime-less period of his life, I can honestly say that I believe that I did everything I could to make PORTALHOT the best and most fun mod that I could have made under the unfavorable circumstances. And I really hope you are going to enjoy playing it, at least a little bit!

Thank you all for support and following this mod! It's been a wild ride all the way through, and I hope you are going to find the end result satisfactory!

Most likely not. Maybe one day I'll go back and make it a bit more bearable, but fell like I still need to learn a couple of things to do the concept justice.

I know it's been said, but this mod is a bit of a disappointment. When I saw on the portal news on steam it said a SuperHot themed portal mod was coming out. I love SuperHot and Portal is one of my favourite games, so I got super hyped. I so badly want to give this game a good review but I can't, I'm sorry.
Pros.
(Mostly) Good level design
Interesting Concept
Cons.
Awful title screen. (I would follow this tutorial fully, removing the Portal 2 logo and the Extras instead of the Chapter Select Moddb.com. I'm currently using it now for my mod DBSA)
(I know I said mostly) Some of the levels seem almost impossible because "Time Only Moves when You do" does nothing but give you an excuse to flood every level with some turrets.
That's it. Again I really wanted to like this mod, But I couldn't. I'm sure you can improve from this mod and make it amazing.

So there are some points I must make about this mod both positive and negative... And I know Pro and Cons lists are a big cliche but I can't see a better way to organise my feedback.
So let's start with Cons.
Cons:
1. To start off I felt there was little direction as to what was going, I felt that being dropped into a situation and forced to figure things out in seconds via trial and error was a little nerve racking.. I know you can slow down time and all but with it being a little iffy, it made a lot of these moments pretty upsetting. I know that having to think fast is kind of the point, but i think it could be executed a lot better
2. You know those red tiles you threw in to give the game some atmosphere? when the screen goes into slow-motion it's hard to differentiate the white from the red, as the screen gets tinted red.
3. There's an area i got stuck in as I killed all the turrets without using the laser, as I figured there was a puzzle to be solved with it, little did i know i had to burn a few of them to continue.
Pros:
1. I loved the fact you could even figure out how to make this possible....
2. I enjoyed you bringing back portal 1 mechanics, like killing cores (who by the way don't usually shoot lasers) and dodging the rockets to hit people. And although I didn't see it necessary to let us pick up the rocket. It was a nice touch.

>Oh..
>ohhh..
>one sec my dog wants out.
>back
>okay let's get back into this

3. I'm trying really hard to give this a balanced review and really what I feel to say is that this has so much potential I feel that if you were to start working on your own work using source, you could do something really dope. Like take the combat feel you gave this mod. You could do something great with that!
Oh and hey...
please link some social media.
I got some artwork to send you.

Thanks a lot for your review! I'm glad you enjoyed at least some parts of it. I'm not really sure if I feel comfortable connecting my facebook to moddb, but if you want to share something, feel free to pm or add me on steam!

I'm really sorry that i have to ask, but i've put the portalhot folder in the sourcemods and am too big of an idiot of what to do next... could you point me in the right direction?

My sincerest apology.

In theory, you should be able to simply restart steam, and then have "PORTALHOT" appear in your game list in steam library.

Oh thank you, I didn't think to restart steam... figured it'd be dropped in instantly as if it was a folder. Thank you friend.
