Long ago, when the word 'Hiigara' rang only as a hollow dream, the kiith of Kharak never imagined they would walk the Path to Victory. But, when they reclaimed their Homeworld and proclaimed themselves 'Hiigaran', they believed they had reached their goal. How wrong they were. 150 years after Hiigaran landfall, conflict rages across the Galaxy... Path to Victory is a multiplayer and skirmish mod for Homeworld 2 that adds new units to both Vaygr and Hiigaran Races as well as enabling the Keepers, Raiders and Kadeshi as playable races.

Oh my god yes! That is easily the coolest fx I've seen in Homeworld.

Hoping they'll be a full race and not just a special unit or something.

That's quite nice. Never was a fan of the T-MAT or their role in the HW1 story, but I know many people loved them. FYI, the arms were never originally meant to be bent that much while firing.

Yeah, I checked the RN thread and saw that. :(

Guess I'll have to play Vaygr now.

How exactly do you mean not meant to bend that far?

Original concepts show that it fires with the arms almost perfectly straight (like a starfish), and when not firing, it flies around with them folded up as seen in the last mission of HW2.

Oh well - guess I kinda killed relic's concept again. Fact is this animation is just cool as it fires 'backwards' i.e. it flies the other way and turns around.

Also, being all closed... well, I needed a 3 minute long animation while this thing 'powers up' so you get it closed up and then it unfolds rather ungracefully.

Basically, I think of it as the Omen gets called into combat then 'powers up' and remains in combat mode from that point forward (plus I'm kinda limited in all the animations HW2 allows :( )

They won't be a full race. There's a hint as to who their allegiance lies with in the bottom right hand corner of the picture. ;)

Wow man, I didn't think you'd do this so quickly. Glad we have that massive box of ideas and ducktape lying around

Ide still prefer a Standalone race for them. i think there was a model in the original HW that was a T-MAT frigate.

Heres an idea! why not intergrate several T-Mat ships into the vaygr? So fighters, Corvettes, frig ect. Or is that what you were planning? Im becoming a bore arent I?

The problem with doing that would mean:

(a) The Vaygr would be way OP.
(b) They'd have even more ships than they already do, which is a LOT.
(c) As far as continuity's sake's concerned, the Vaygr used the T-MAT Dark Omens to destroy Hiigara, and this is one of the few they have left. Adding in loads of T-MAT ships would cause more problems than they would solve.

Plus, this thing is basically the dark counterpart of Sajuuk, so there now is only one and it does the same job of killing everything in its general area.

I'm Dark Sajuuk, The Great Destroyer, nothing else is. :) Had to say it XD. But really this thing is awsome and it does fit as a dark counterpart to Sajuuk for this mod though. Fits perfectly.

What about lag?...

Reply Good karma Bad karma+1 vote

Well it's one ship which you only get after playing the game for 20 minutes. It takes 3 minutes to power up after you spend 10'000 RU to hyperspace it in. So if you have a slow computer, don't build the thing.

However. On a Nvidia 8600 card (mobile version, Dell XPS) with 256 MB vram, using 1920*1200 resolution it does not lag one bit. Well, against the kadeshi it might.

But their ships will be dead fast enough that the lag will be gone.

Maybe, in order to circumvent difficulties getting the Total-Material mothership to effectively move its arms into and out of combat mode constantly, you could have the T-Mat act as a platform. Essentially, the arms ripple with energy and lock into a tight formation that directs the ship's Majestic Sapphire Molestation Beam into a sphere, and then can hold that single-shot charge indefinitely until it either is ordered to move or prepare to reposition into vessel normalcy.

I realize I'm coming up with the oddest names for these fantastic effects and ships, but there really is no other way to properly describe the Molestation Beam's power to molest the very atomic structure of its targets before mercilessly vaporizing them.
